I had already upgraded the tie downs in the back of the Jeep so I used them to hold the box in place with turn buckles. It's very solid and 5 minutes with a wrench and the it's out.
Loaded with gear. One side is filled with recovery gear and the other side has rope, misc tools and parts...
Thank you.
I got the center support built and the top on. I was looking for some aluminum trim to go around the edge but no luck. I ended up finding the perfect stuff in the metal rack at Lowe's. I cut it to fit, then drilled and counter sunk holes for scews in addition to using Liquid nails...
I took a break from the current Jeep drawer project yesterday to make a skottle for my best friend. Took about 2 hours and old disc blade that I got from my brother. This one is for setting in coals or on a camp stove/BBQ. Next one will be for me with legs and a bracket for a single burner...
A serrated edge is not my personal go to, but everyone has their own preference. 25% off a Benchmade is a pretty good deal. They are great knives but if you're not going to use it, even at the discount, it's still a fairly expensive "drawer filler". That would be the deciding factor for me.
Yes, fortunately I do have access to large fab shop with commercial shears and benders. It's also a good source for inexpensive aluminum rems from their big projects.
Got the sides of the frame bent up out of 1/8" aluminum. The screws holding the frame together thread into nutserts in the 1" square tube in the rear corners.. Picking up wood for the top tomorrow.
I changed my mind on how to hold the ammo in place and attached them with a single screw into a nutsert in the back of the drawer frame. Remove one screw and the ammo boxes lift out. I built an L shaped piece to extend the sides of the tray behind the ammo cans. This area will be used to hold...
Been family camping as long as I can remember. It really started for me about 50 years ago, when I was about 7. Camping down by the creek on the back of our farm with my best friend or up on the hill at an old abandoned saw mill sight behind his farm.
Daisy BB guns, Old Timer pocket knife from...
The trailer is completely back together, organized and ready to go. I set up the trailer tongue so that I can open the tailgate n the Jeep all the way.
Cool work in progress. I have a lot of fond memories growing up looking down the road from the overhead bed window of the our Caveman camper in the bed of my Dad's Camper Special. Good luck.
I have two that I can think of right now.
1. An old aluminum coffee pot that I bought at a little general store in the middle of nowhere Oregon back in the early 80's because my hunting partner forgot to bring the coffee pot. His only responsibility on that trip was beer and coffee, at least he...
