To be honest.. on the BDR you miss a lot of the highlights of Utah, you might have more fun running the Utah traverse or exploring other areas along the Southern part of the route.. The northern part (north of Price) is no doubt beautiful, but you are likely going to run into a lot of mud and...

No.. its the desert.. nearest camping by a river would be Paria to the north or Badger creek overlooking the Colorado on the Grand canyon. Nearest lake is Lake Powell north of Page, AZ is huge, beautiful and about 80 miles from Jacob lake, you can camp on the beach @ lone rock dispersed camping...

Basically.. pick a road in Utah that isn't I-15, and there is something must see near by.. what are you in to? hikes, waterfalls, technical trails, rock formations, sand dunes, slot canyons, oddly diverse terrain, water crossings? There is so much to see in CO and UT you'll have to narrow down...

It isn't a short trip up to white pocket.. plan a few hours in and out.. are you exploring the area or just passing through looking for a spot? I can recommend a few places just of the highway with views as well.. the views are not hard to come by.. lol

White pocket can be accessed with any 4wd vehicle with experience, the trail is not difficult as far as technicality goes, but it is very sandy, 4wd Tacoma will have no issues, just air down when you come off the highway, the House rock valley road changes conditions and has been known to have...

Check this out, there are notes in a lot of the descriptions of waypoints, any mapping software (including google maps) should be able to provide you with routes to these locations.
