Ah yes... the age old debate “what is overlanding?” I like the simple and easy definition this thread depicts. Down here in Sun Diego whenever I attend an event it always seems to be defined by money... or the latest and greatest and most expensive gadget. Over 35 years ago I had my first adventure in an old Mail Jeep we rebuilt in an aircraft hanger on base, beg borrowing and stealing (more borrowing). We lived off sacks of rice, beans and beer for almost three weeks in Baja and survived. Good times I will remember for the rest of my life... and to me defines “overlanding”.

Are you living out of a vehicle? Are you fulfilling that thirst for adventure and discovering whats just over the horizon? Are you challenging yourself? If you can check those off. Youre overlanding. How you do it or what you use to do it, is besides the point.
