In a couple of weeks I'll taking 10 day trip down the West (US) coast, and then back North through the Cascades. Starting point being Seattle, and turnaround point being Yosemite NP.......

I was just curious if anyone had any cool suggestions on stops along the way. Most specifically Mt. Shasta Area.. any suggestions on basecamp in that area???

Rough outline of the route:
DAY 1 -- Seattle, WA - Tillamook Forest, OR
DAY 2 -- Tillamook - Jedediah Smith Redwoods, CA
DAY 3 -- Redwoods Parks - Guerneville, CA (Hotel bascamp :tonguewink:)
DAY 4 -- Guerneville - Yosemite NP
DAYS 5,6 -- Yosemite NP
DAY 7 -- Yosemite - Mt. Shasta Trinity NF
DAY 8 -- Mt. Shasta - Redmond, OR
DAY 9 -- Redmond - Wasco, OR
DAY 10 -- Back to Seattle via Yakima/Snoq Pass

It's 2100 mi. on the pavement, which is pretty grueling. I want to fit in some good time off road too though.
Does the Mt. Shasta-Trinity NF have some fun NF roads to cruise down? I'll be setting up camp there on the way back

Are you looking for dispersed or a good FS campground in the Shasta area? If campground I would suggest two just out of McCloud; Fowlers Campground and Cattle Camp Campground.

Looking mostly for dispersed camping near Shasta. Ive heard that area can be popular.. will it be difficult finding a good dispersed spot on a Frifay night?
