Anyone use a air conditioner for a rooftop tent. I am looking for a resonable usb/ rechargable unit that would cool a RTT. Any suggestions> thx in advance.

I bought a couple usb/rechareable clamp on fans on amazon. They do a pretty good job of circulating air in the rtt. They are pretty quick to recharge and will run all night. I carry a 20000 mah battery that will power them also...as well as recharge cell ph, ipad, etc. its not a swamp cooler or ac but at least moves the air.

USB swamp coolers are a joke. Just check the reviews. at 1.0A on 5V there is not enough power available to run a decent fan let alone a pump to circulate water that swamp coolers need. They are a novelty on peoples desk at work where the place is already air conditioned. A nice clamp on 120V fan would be better than the units people in the cube farms outside my lab have. That being said. Tents can get warm, I use a dewalt 20V jobsite fan.... yeah call me redneck, but it moves decent air, runs 24 hours on a 6AH battery, and uses the same battery runs all my other tools including some I take camping JIC. My favorite is the 1/2" impact driver for repairs, this thing can break loose axle nuts easily, and does not flinch on rusted suspension parts or lug nuts. Another often overlooked tool I take is a compact recip saw. Not as big as a chain saw, but Im not felling serious lumber, usually dead standing dry wood then cutting it to size. A recip saw with a 12" pruning blade will take care of firewood chores WAY easier than any folding buck saw, quieter than a chain saw/ no fuel required, and safer. They do make 20V and 60V (dewalt flex volt lineup) chain saws, but they are still limited by bar length, do not run nearly as long as the recip saw, and with a quick blade change in a zombie Apocalypse can be a master lock picking kit (but I would rather use the 60V 6" angle grinder with a cut off wheels that I also have) Due to me having several 60V dewalt tools I only buy the flex volt 60V batteries that are compatible with the 20V tools as well.
There is also an awesome link for build your own LED rope lights that connect to these 20/60V batteries that use an adapter that comes with Dewalts heated clothes lineup. I bought the replacement adapter that not onyl has the USB but the 12V dongle to power the lights. The only down side, the vinyl tubing does have a smell.... But Im looking for better options to prevent this as I have a nose that can be a national security risk as I smell stuff outside my building/ home. Its a curse that sometimes is handy, but mainly a curse. The only thing I recommend, is do not do what he did with the switch, swap the plug on the ights, that way if you break the switch or lose it/ leave it at home, you can just plug the light right into the battery adapter to turn it off/ on.
Comfort is king, but flexibility is key. I would personally stay away from this USB swamp coolers, just my $0.02.
