I'm always looking for ways to free space in the back of the vehicle or from the roof and when I saw an undercar moulded water tank I thought it would be a great edition.
It's 25 litres, which is more than enough for a long weekend, which make up most of my trips.
I wanted a tap in the back of the ute tub for easy access. I considered installed a screw tap in the bumper but didn't think road dirt would taste nice. I built some storage space using some spare material over the wheel arch and attached the tap to that.
To power the tap I used a self-priming water pump which works a treat. Uses about 1amp when in operation and has a great flow rate. The pump is powered by a toggle switch next to the tap.
The plumbing under neath is fairly simple with an inline tap on the fill connector. It can be filled with a hose (I carry a food grade hose and filter) or can be filled from a container using a little pump (which you can see attached in this photo)
Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. The water tank was expensive, but this has freed up the space of a 25ltr water container. At some point I will look at fitting a second water container under the front half of the tub as there is some space there. I don't need it yet though.
