I didnt go up there, to Naches. I was looking on the forest service web site.
Gotcha. I've been wanting to run the Naches Pass Trail, not sure how the WJ will do with open diffs and 33's but I would be interested in tagging along if you're heading up on a weekend sometime.

@Ceg, looking at your website and pictures you seem pretty familiar with the trails in that area. What trails up there do you think would be passable for a WJ on 33's with open diffs? Naches Pass? I haven't been on the real trails in that area in 15+ years so I don't know the conditions, I've been told some of the trails are harder now from all the guys running 37"-40" tires leaving ruts and deep holes. I'd like to get up there on some of the more challenging stuff to see what the Grand can do and what mods need to be next to make it more trail capable.

Where did they have the road closed when you were up there? At the turn of for NF19/ Little Naches Road?
Looking at the forest service map they have most of the little Naches area closed right now, but I read this morning that the fire is 60% contained so hopefully they can get a handle on it and open the trails back up.
According to the map from the FS it looks like FS19 is closed at 410, so no access to FS19 and areas off it. They still haven't updated the 60% containment from two days ago.

Ya I checked again this morning also in hopes they would have some updates. Must not be too big or out of control since I haven't even seen that one on the news.

I am doing most of the trails this year in a lower than stock YJ open diffs with 30s and my son is running with me in his lifted ZJ with 29s. You should be fine for the most part.

I haven't made it to Naches Pass yet this year. My friend just ran it with a BU that has low ground clearance. He only smashed his tail pipe.

I was thinking about heading that direction this weekend. Looks like you can get to the trails to the NW of the fire around Manastash ridge area.

We have club"s Wagons East Naches Pass run scheduled in a few weeks if it is open. Most of us will drive around the west part due to ground clearance and some being newbies to wheeling. A few rigs may run the west end and we will meet up at the cross roads. PM me if you are interested.

I was playing around on 2M tonight, hitting my favorite repeater system Home , when I met KJ7PNT, Chris. He and I have talked several times in the past. He’s into outdoor adventure, loves to hunt and fish. Any way he and a couple of his buddies run mud boats up the Yakima River and they invited me on a fishing and hunting expedition this fall. His buddy has several Jeeps and is active in one of the local off-road clubs there in the Tri-Cities. Once I get to know these guys a little better I will get with Mike D @PNW EXPLR to set up a local meetup, thinking mid September if I can get the Bronco done, as it takes priority for me at this exact point in time.

Bronco is a part waiting for my junkyard engine to show up in Tuesday.

Tried going to the Horseshoe Bend overlook near Condon, OR today. Ran into the White Elephant Ranch before reaching the end of the road, but found this nice fixer upper or future empty nester, just needs a little TLC. :)F49FD697-B2E9-4598-8D81-51CC36DBA9FF.jpeg

Me and the dog took a little solo trip this weekend to get away and check out a new area. Headed out of Selah, over to Wenas then onto Manastash ridge where we camped for the night. From there we headed over to Quartz mtn. to see if I could see the Jungle fire burning in the Little Naches area, must not have been too big because there wasn't much smoke. After that we headed over toward the Taneum ridge area and out to I90 around Thorp.

From the top of Quartz Mtn. (Jungle Fire is just over the ridge you see over the hood)

Great shots. I was actually going to head that way Sunday, but my wife felt like my son should choose since school was starting for him today. He said we had been running the moountains in Washngton a lot lately and wanted to go to Oregon, so south we went, and didn't get where we were heading anyway, but then that is how many adventures happen :)

Ya, my trip didn't go as planned at all. Late start on Friday so I didn't get to where I wanted to camp, but it wasn't too bad since where I found was good and it ended up taking a lot longer to get where I had wanted to camp. Then on Saturday I planned to camp around Cle Elum ridge but it was super windy up there so I called it a day and headed home around 6 that evening. But getting out for the time I did is still better than being home doing yard work
