Hi everyone, over the years of off-roading, rock crawling, and now overlanding has shown me exactly the recovery gear I need in order to preform recoveries. The video below is something I put together outlining my personal recovery gear. This may not be a perfect list for everyone, but I think it’s worth know what other people carry. Note, I do not carry traction boards with me. I may in the future or I may not, but this is the gear I’ve used to get me out of any situation I have put my self in. So what do you guys carry beyond the typical tow strap and possible traction board?

I carry a everything you listed plus:

hitch mounted winch for front/rear/other people's rigs.

Lots of basic hand tools for basic repairs.

Air compressor that has large enough volume to reseat a bead, along with ratchet straps ..good for loads and help seat a bead.

Just got a hi-lift jack as the factory jack can't reach my frame. Good for pulling, squeezing, lifting.

Traction boards with jack spot for high lift.

Various lights and emergency triangles.

Jumper cables...can be used to weld in a pinch.

Battery powered Chainsaw and handsaw.

I also drive a 3/4 ton Yukon on 35's and a small lift.....tons of room.

I still try to make sure everything has multiple purposes for which it is good.

Awesome list. Being able to move the winch around is a big plus for sure. Traction boards have my eye right now but we will see what happens.

I didnt include hands tools and jacks in recovery equipment, though I should have included the jack. Like you, I carry a variety of hand tools, air compressor, jumper cables. The chainsaw is a pretty nice addition as well as the emergency triangles.

Kind of jealous of the space you have in that 3/4 ton Yukon, my jeep forces me to be very specific with what I carry. Maybe thats a good thing? LOL.
