Pathfinder I
Yep, when we first get there we'll need to check-in at the gate. They will give is a pass of some kind so that we can enter the gate at any time (for when we leave the site). I'm pretty sure we're able to tour the Biltmore as well. The best time to do that will probably be mornings and before the weekend if possible. The Biltmore staff working at the entrance are super helpful. I wasn't able to tour the Biltmore last year because of weather and my schedule. Hopefully that isn't the case this year.@dziner, so I just emailed Cyan@overland expo about admission. We know as volunteers that we get free admission to the expo but I asked if that covered Biltmore admission too and if so, are they going to know who we are at the main entrance to give us passes to get in.
BTW, looked over the packet, we need to be in there by 5pm if we're going to camp at Biltmore that night so I think I-81, expeditiously, is the right answer. If we link up in/around southern Winchester around 7, that ought to put us in good time to get there before 5pm. Plus, its mid week and mid-day so traffic shouldn't be too bad going down.
Also, last year I was on a motorcycle which I have since sold. I made the trip in two days with Roanoke as the half-way point. We should be good with time if we keep a consistent pace, avoid any traffic, and keep our rest stops brief and efficient.
