Was in Death Valley last week. About the hottest I’ll ever be in. At about 10:30pm, it was still 113°F at like 1500ft elevation. Probably the roughest night I’ve ever experienced camping. I had to dunk my t-shirt and a towel in my ice chest every hour or so to stay cool.
Not planned, nope. Spur of the moment when it's surprisingly cool after a front, heck yeah. That said, it has been 99* & humid. My dog is on standby alert for rapid deployment to the mountains this weekend, weather highly dependant
