Brand names sometimes use their names to justify outrageous pricing. I read alot of reviews before I buy anything. I dont need a $150 chair when a $20 will do. Same with coolers and tumblers also with backpacks, how good does it really have to be. I recently wanted a new backpack, did my research, the NorthFace was $270 found a Teton on Amazon with great reviews for $55! Really? Im not going to climb Mt Everest or traverse the Amazon Jungle, it was fine for my needs.

I make/build almost everything. I not only enjoy the challenge it's also a great teaching and learning tool. Snorkel, Awning, Storage, Dog Cage...etc. When I do have to get things I don't or cannot make/build, I first try Craigslist "Barter" and "Free" sections. Next...I will buy non name brand.

When I was shopping for a new back pack I was pricing ones on Amazon for over $200 as well. I ended up with a $35 high Sierra from Costco that has everything I was looking for. Used daily for the past year with no complaints.
