Get your RTIC products while you can - because they've just been nailed for Patent Infringement.
YETI filed a lawsuit against RTIC in 2015 and the courts ruled that a majority of their products are a carbon copy of YETI's.
What does this mean? Well, the people who run RTIC are turds and they lack integrity and they're going to be going out of business very soon.
But it doesn't mean their product is bad - in fact, it's been proven to stand up to YETI's... SO GET WHILE THE GETTIN' IS GOOD!!!!!
RTIC is going to be liquidating assets in order to pay off their massive debt.
That seems like there might be some personal opinion in there? Maybe? ;)

RTIC's Press Release:
"
RTIC IS VERY PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE AN AGREEMENT REACHED WITH YETI

RTIC, the leading direct to consumer online retailer of premium coolers and drinkware announces that it has entered into a settlement agreement with YETI today for the purpose of avoiding the additional costs and uncertainty of continued litigation. The dispute has been amicably resolved and as part of the agreement, RTIC has agreed to redesign only those products involved in the dispute.

As part of the Agreement, RTIC is precluded from commenting further, but RTIC is very pleased with the settlement and considers it a win.

RTIC had previously announced last month changes to its 2017 product lines and expects to rollout new products and updated existing products starting in early Spring. RTIC will continue to operate as normal selling all the RTIC brand of products as provided on the www.RTICcoolers.comwebsite keeping true to its promise to deliver "Over Built – Not Over Priced" products to all its RTIC fans & customers.

About RTIC

RTIC is the leading direct to consumer online retailer of premium coolers and drinkware. It was founded by twin brothers John and Jim Jacobsen and has generated almost 1.5 million followers on Facebook since shipping its first cooler in September 2015 and now employs over 100 people. RTIC is based in the Houston suburb of Cypress and owns fulfilment centers in Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, Harrisburg & Fresno occupying over 300,000 square feet of space."

Yeti's Press Release:

"YETI REACHES SETTLEMENT
Austin, Texas (February 2, 2017) — YETI®, the leading premium cooler and drinkware brand, is pleased to announce that a binding settlement has been reached in the United States District Court lawsuits brought against RTIC Coolers and brothers John and Jim Jacobsen.

RTIC Coolers and the Jacobsens are required to make a financial payment to YETI; to cease sales of all products subject to the lawsuit – this includes hard-sided coolers, soft-sided coolers and drinkware; and to redesign all products in question.

YETI CEO Matt Reintjes stated, “We are extremely pleased with the results we have achieved. We will continue to defend our innovation and intellectual property. This is a true win.”

Further details will be shared as they become available. YETI is not available for further comment on this topic at this point."

Nope. RTIC has to stop making YETI copies and pay YETI a fine. It sounds like they knew this was a foregone conclusion, and are already in production on 2017 product that complies with the lawsuit.

Is that how anyone else read these?

But they both claim victory, and Yeti's post says RTIC has to stop selling the items in dispute immediately, RTIC says 'keep ordering'. They must be liquidating all existing items in dispute.

@Steve haha yeah it's a bit opinionated on my part. RTIC has been going after YETI really hard in their marketing campaigns, all while copying their designs and materials almost perfectly. I just think that's dirty pool. You poke the bear while stealing food out of it's den - it's going to lash out; which is what YETI has done. I've been in product development, design, and manufacturing for 20 years - so it just rubs me the wrong way. Like, you can't design something that's your own? Utilize the same type of insulating properties and what have you, but try and change the shape around. If you were to remove their labels, you couldn't tell some of the products apart. It's just a crappy way to try and succeed in business. BUT - don't get me wrong, I'm all for saving money.. Haha - and if these RTIC coolers do work as well as a YETI, then they're a steal!

It'll be interesting to see how RTIC recovers. Both the press releases look to favor both companies - but RTIC is going to be paying off a ton in fines and now their reputation is hurt. I'm also pretty sure that their designs are going to have to go through a ton of litigation before they can actually become new products: so they're going to be bleeding money for some time. And we're not talking about just a few products here - we're talking about complete product lines.

Oh, I completely understand and agree! I was a draftsman, then new product designer for Rockwell Power Tools (now Delta) and then RIDGID pipe working equipment for 36 years. In both cases a lot of time and money was spent in litigation against patent infringement.

I doubt they will suffer much. They can advertise the loss by saying "same quality at half the price, the judge said so"
