Even as my car is a bit in trouble at the moment, I am positive that I can sort stuff out and I will be on the road again this week.
For that I am already making new plans.
One of the plans is that the wheels on my trailer will be fitting the Jeep as well.
So, for that I need these bolts. They provide me with enough play to make the 5x112 hub carrying the 5x114,3 wheels.
The only thing I need to check after I receive them is if the Jeep Liberty rims/wheels will fit into the Trailers arches.
If so, well I will buy two more Jeep Liberty rims and fit them with the same, better said, old tires which are still good enough for the Trailer.

This is a great solution I think. So you will be able to swap wheels between rig and trailer. Which gives you more possibilities and reliability in case of a tire puncture etc.

Iam waiting for some parts. As the problem is still there. But only when it is really hilly and when we have to go up hill. So again, get working on this problem.
New fuel pump assembly and injectors are ordered.
Ohw and because for the whatever time the original electric cooler fan went dead, I ordered two smaller fans to replace the big one.
I hardly use the AC so I guess one smaller one would be good. The other one will be connected to the same switch als my redundant one I already have and then I have in need and very hot weather or severe conditions a manual cooling system.
For now it worked already well to keep the car cool when one of the original fans went dead. So, with this set up I will have even more control over the tempature of the motor as before.
You are a controll freak or you arent. hehe.

Then I'll keep my fingers crossed that the problem with all the replacing of parts is then done.

Btw, does the 3.6 Liberty have a viscous or electric fan for the engine cooling (I mean the one that keeps breaking)?

Long time quiet here. I was posting somewhere else but hey. Here I need to post as well I guess.
Well, as far as we know, the problem with the Jeep is solved and we are till now very happy again.
Using 5 liter less per 100km is something that is a side effect that is very welcome nowadays.
Biggest thing that we changed to the car is that we now have skid plates front and middle.

Middle one

Aint looking half bad

Next there will be an extension to the transfer case and a diff protector

As I had a Christmas gift from friends, I had to make a mount or rack to provide a special place for that precious gift.
So, here is my idea of an extended car interior that gives my OCD no chance to complain.
The Christmas gift from the year before has gotten a place on this rack as well.

First of all I will say, the gift is an ARB Jack. Which is a better, safer and easier High Lift. Which I did have. But now it will be passed on to Chris.
20221230_125950.jpg
When I got that, I of course needed to test this and I noticed that the normal way, like front an back not really did work.
Therefor I need to make some adapters to be able to use it there.
But for me, the Jack will be primarely be used to lift the wheels up to put sand boards underneath.
So, for that I did made myself a nice and simple adapter. The original one is to me way to expensive and an m8 bolt is me to flimsy
20230117_145815.jpg
20230117_145823.jpg
Note, the wooden plank is there to protect the tire and make the size of the surface bigger. Less impact.
20230117_145930.jpg
Easy, simple and very sturdy.
And now I show you my kind of OCD solutions.
20230118_155103.jpg
For those who like to be critics and always question about how things can be dangerous during driving, let me tell you how it is mounted.
First, I took the head rests out and did put in 6 m10 threads of around 25 cm. They are in the rear seats.
20230110_134104.jpg
on top of that is a metal bar from left to right.
20230110_144443.jpg
Then I mad the rack and it is also attached to the metal bar that holds the trunk case in place.
And that looks like this when done and also give room for a Molle system solution.
20230118_155103.jpg
The Jack and Fire pit are mounted here.
20230118_155111.jpg
Sturdy and safe. The rack provides us also with enough safety for luggage stored during trips in the trunk. And all of it makes the Trunk very tidy and way more empty as before.

Awesome. Can you only cut wood or aluminium too? Would be I retesting how strong those Molle panels are. Keep us updated.

And it is done.
Made four brackets to mount it. one slide in, one pop on and two (sides) turnable.
Now it is nicely secured and no drilling no nothing.
Happy with the outcome for now.

20230127_140825.jpg
when you see the bolts, that is were the brackets bottom and sides are
20230127_140837.jpg
And the Molle pouches are a good fit.

Working on the trailer at the moment. Took off the solar panels and such to paint them again. Tomorrow again washing the roof.
It was needed as we didnt travel much last year, but this year we will make up for that.
So, washing is a must. Cleaning it for next week as we then do our first camping trip.
But for now I just like to make it look good again.
So, took everything of, used some rustconvertor and then painted it black again.
20230315_215040.jpg
BTW. the high lift bar isnt part of that project.
20230315_215058.jpg
After this all I have to paint the parts that cant be taken of the trailer. A bit of extra work, but hey, it will look not that bad anymore heheh.
Then assembling the solar panels to the bars and then it will be good again.
20230315_215027.jpg
I bought a new 110W panel that will replace an 80W panel. And together with the other 80W panel I will have then 190W.
And again one will be removable so it can go outside the shade for more power if we are in the shade with the trailer.
Next step is to mount everything back on the trailer.
I hope to finish that tomorrow evening.

When you do travelling a lot, sometimes you do have little problems.
Like you have to refurbish and replace a Transfer Case.
With some help we refurbished it, and by myself I replaced it.
4 days of work but no engine and geabox were removed during this event.
20230815_121518.jpg
20230815_173035.jpg
the refurbishing part
20230816_145822.jpg
Had to take out the floor console
20230816_180621.jpg
I was sick and tired of fideling around, so with two big holes the work came fairly easy. Closing those holes wasnt a problem. And now I have two nice hatches for future repairs.
20230816_205946.jpg
With my preumatic lift, it was a bit easier to control and lift the TC in place. With no wieght to carry, I could use my small amount of mussle to direct the TC into place.
20230816_205957 1.jpg
That is were it has to go.
After installing it, and putting everything back, we had a 200km testdrive, just in 2wd but all was good. 4wd in all forms I tested that on the friday. Next week in Salisbury it will be tested a bit better .

Ohw, and as if this wasnt enough, I had to replace the radiator as well. Broke at the same time.
20230811_183937.jpg
With that replaced, we can go on more trips and next month to Portugal.

After coming home from our trip to Portugal, I had to make some repairs to the car.
First there is the problem with the hand brake. That will be done in a later stadium as I never use that one. The interior of the handbrake drums were rattling and making awfull noises, so I removed that and my garage will take care of that part, as soon as I cleaned the mounting places for them on the axle.
Secondly and that was the most irritating problem, was a tremendous play on the caliper of the left rear brake. It rattled, twisted and was making terrible noises, but when I drove a bit, it aligned well and the noises were gone.
Next stop, same thing over again. Really annoying.
When I was busy with them during the holidays, I noticed that there was wear in the caliper and also on the brake disc. Which meant, the disc/drum wasnt nice and round, but had a more oval shape.

So, I ordered new brake discs/drums, new calipers, brake pads for that and at home I replaced all of it. That problem is solved.
Unfortunally, my car has over 300,000 km which means that you repair one thing and another thing breaks. In this case the master brake caliper. It takes in air now. New one is ordered already.

I also noticed a little bit of vibration in the car, so I took out the rear drive shaft and yes, there was a bit of play in the u-joint. As I already had that idea I did order them as well and I can replace them tomorrow or at least this weekend.
The Master brake caliper is arriving tomorrow, so next week my garage is taken care of that part.

We drove to Portugal around 6000km, two weeks before to the UK around 1500km so, some wear and tear was espected. Well in the next week I guess I will solve mostof the problems. And after our trips to Verdun and the South of the Netherlands, the hand brake will be solved as well.
So then it will be good as gold.
20230909_101800.jpg
Working on the brakes and noticing the problem.
20230909_102232.jpg
See the waer and tear on the caliper. Finally found the problem.
20231006_154818.jpg
New discs and calipers are in place.

Next to those repairs, I had to make some adjustments to the interior of the trailer.
Since a couple of weeks we have decided that due my illnesses, I have to be able to go in comfort to the toilet during our trips.
Getting up during the nights and having to walk to the toilet rooms of a campsite isnt practical. And relieving yourself in the woods isnt fun as well.
So we decided to bring a toilet. Not a chemical one, but a separation one.
However, I did made a good job building that in sheer comfort, but it was to big, and it hadnt a dedicated spot in the trailer.
So, I did some changes to the size of the toilet and to the interior. And now it fits nice and snug in the trailer and can easely taken out.
The coming week our toilet tent will arrive and if all goes well I can make everything super comfortable then.
20231005_204416.jpg
Made some shelves next to it and in one is a drawer coming.
One nut is keeping everything in place and I guess that will work well.
I think the trailer and my car will never be ready, always something to do. repair or upgrading them.

yesterday I took out the rear drive shaft and today I changed my u-joints. Which is if all works out fine a simple easy job.
20231014_141857.jpg
Both joints are changed, they are factory greased, but I will grease them again now they are fitted.
But first mount the thing under the car.
I ordered a little bump grease pen which gives me the oppurtunity to do this kind of greasing without taking out the big grease pumps.
20231014_141903.jpg
Again a little annoyance solved.

I do have a great workshop. And Iam very happy with it. But now I did see something on YT which gave me an urge to make it as nice as possible.
So, the shop is getting a new tool wall.
It was this as a tool wall.
20220523_143729.jpg
and now I am busy with changing it into this.
20231031_224019 1.jpg
20231107_181349.jpg
and now I am busy with the next batch
20231107_181525.jpg
20231108_181226.jpg

And more to come, at least three more panels and some inlays on the workbench.
