finally a long road trip. And I’m taking my girlfriend overlanding for the first time. See how she and her German Sheppard like sleeping in the jeep for the first time. Any good spots we should stop or sleep at along the way??

*edit* I mis-read your question at first...I thought you'd be sleeping in your Jeep in Texas.

What part of Texas are you going to be in? I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Lots of entertainment venues in the area. Not much for state parks or anything in my area. Texas has no public use land, so any off roading has to be done in designated parks.

Not sure how old this is--anywhere in Texas is hot this time of year. South Lano State park outside of Junction, TX is great, If you have time Port Aransas area-Padre Island National Seashore out of Corpus Christi-drive on the beach for 60 miles and camp on the beach-anywhere along the way,
Enjoy

Won't lie, Texas is nasty hot right now.

I will say, however, if you can make it to Big Bend National Park you won't be disappointed! Stay at the Chisos Basin campground and prepare yourself for an incredible 100 mile drive into the park. (I'm not joking, when you enter the park, you have to drive another 100 miles to the campground). But the scenery is amazing, especially if you're coming in close to sunset.
