Congrats to Reno Overlanding for a successful first run. Eight of us from the Sierra Foothills Overlanders had a great time.
Thanks to Bill (happyouroverlanding) for the invite and hope to attend another of your events in the future, and we will reciprocate inviting you to ours.
Special thanks to Bob (sierrabob) what a wealth of knowledge about the area! I learned allot.

Great drone shots. It was great to have you all there for the first Reno Overlanding group trail ride. When we were all gathering, I was astonished that 19 rigs showed... really not expecting that many. I look forward to joining some of your Sierra Foothills Overlanders events. Hopefully by the weekend we will have an official write-up posted with the route info of the 70 miles we traversed.

Loved having the old school rigs on the trip it made my day.
Thanks. It was a fun trip. I drive my jeep about 4000-4500 miles a year, numerous road trips, camping trips, etc. I'm hoping to get out on more actual off road trips like this though, the last few years have been troublesome with getting the fuel injection sorted out, but I think I've got a pretty good handle on it now and reliability should improve.

Nice shots. :sunglasses: Glad you came out. It was great contrast having the new and old rigs on the trail. So how rough of a road will you take your rig on?

Oh...and there's a Reno Overlanding group meeting this Wednesday at Maria's restaurant in Verdi at 6:PM.

It really depends on how much I feel like getting beat up. Its NOT a comfortable ride for rocky stuff. The trip this weekend was fine and pretty mild for me, I wasnt uncomfortable. It's a 40 year old pig on open diffs that has zero suspension flex, and I don't much like worrying about if I'm going to get home or not, nor am I fond of body damage :-) I'm down for stuff thats definitely rougher than what we did, but given the age and build, I prefer to play it somewhat safe. Since moving to Reno, most of the trips I take involve a few hours of driving to and from the trails or camping areas, and I REALLY dont want to have to limp or get towed home from a few hundred miles away.

I've romped it up over Potato Ridge (behind red rock) in Vegas, which was probably the most technical trail I've drug it through. I took most of the bypasses on that trip, I used to have to take some of the bypasses in my TJ even.I got out of the rocky crawling and technical wheeling when I sold my TJ and went to the Wag :-)

Understood. Your input at the upcoming meeting on the types of trails would be great. Hope you can join us.

Hey I had an awesome time on the run! G/F and Kids had a blast! I liked the water crossing and the views down into the valley at the lookout were great. I'm down for trips of this difficulty on the trail and maybe a bit more in spots but like Marn, its a 40 year old rig with stiff springs so I don't like rock crawling or mud bogging but I like dirt and off road stuff a lot. I am about to embark on tearing my whole fuel injection apart so I might fall back on the new jeep which is really nice but not as capable off road. Looking forward to mare trips like this one!

With a little prep we can get that FiTech up and running in a weekend especially if you are doing an external pump
