Reno Overlanding Meeting 4/25/18
Attendees: 6 participants with 4 vehicles represented
Scott Weiby, Marc Briseno, Andrew Morris, Dana Walkerley, Alex Govaars ,Martin Galantuomin
Introduction: Our second meeting saw a variety of overlanding skill sets represented from novice to experience. All members have been in the Reno area at least 2 years. All of members are looking for more trail rides and hands on training.
4/21 Trip: Only one member from this meeting Andrew Morris went on the trip but he talked about how successful it was with that many trucks going. He also mentioned that it was very organized and kept going at good pace. So with that we are all excited to get the next trip planed.
Training: We discussed basic first aid needs on the trail as well as what should be brought including a trauma kit. The hi lift jack review went well but overall the group is interested in learning with more hands on topics including the hi lift jack at the next meeting.
Rally point: We went over how to set up a rally point for member that want to plan an impromptu trips during the week or on a weekend separate from our larger runs.
Reno Patch: We are interested but want to wait until our member number grows.
Future trips: Marc is willing to lead a trip to the garlach/ black rock area over Memorial Day he just needs some help on planning. Bob is working on setting up a local day run in the Reno area before Memorial Day so look for more info on that trip.
Next meeting: To be determined but we agreed it will be an offsite location that will include field training Andrew agreed to run the next meeting with my help.
Also Marc mentioned that he will have more free time coming up soon to help work on trucks as his home he is an automotive tech with over 30 years of experience including custom fabrication.
