Is White Rim trail possible in my stock 20 Forester? What other trails would you recommend? I have to travel to CO for a class and can't pass up the chance to drive through the Canyonlands.
We did Shaefer trail in our 4wd Sprinter and never even put it in 4wd. It was dry, it would be a different story if it was muddy.

I believe Schaefer is one way..down. If you head in part way you could exit on Potash at bottom of Schaefer. Enjoy..
Schaefer is two way.

I have gone down and up it, and have passed vehicles going the opposite direction each time. It is not a narrow road at all (though it does scare the flat-landers out of their wits). As with any trail you need to pay attention for oncoming traffic and be willing to move to the side to let someone pass, and at the switchback turns there should probably not be any passing. But it is two way. At least it was when I was there.

I will say that you get the best views going down. If you are trying to decide which direction to run a loop then you are probably best served going down the Schaefer trail rather than up.

I stand corrected, unsure why i thought it was one way.

I'm hoping to run out there this fall if the situation permits. Bucket list trail..

Camping is by reservation only and they fill up months in advance.
Typically yes, i was unsure how it's been lately with the virus. So i imagine no restrictions on the overnight permits since their so spread out, have they cut day use permits at all?

Wondering what my chances would be to pop in and ask about openings in the few days i'd be in the area this fall. I wouldn't necessarily need to pull an overnight permit but i could at least run it.
