Camping alone was a surprise experience. Packing my gear and gassing up the steel horse I ride took a different type of sentiment. How would I survive?

Solo camping is my fav. Im not opposed to spending time with others it’s just I have not found many that want to slow walk a trip. I’m an explorer and very curious at heart so I would probably make too many stops or side trips.

My preference for no time lines, and no rushing to hit the next POI allows me to really enjoy “why” I am here…the ever elusive peace. In response to the alien, I have never been the type to allow fear of the unknown affect me so if @grubworm bug eye bestie is around the corner, bring it on!

yep, peace..." freedom from disturbance"

exploring and traveling are sacred to me...meaning that its very important and I like doing it my way with no outside influence. I get influenced enough by others on the daily...
just existing in society has a lot of stipulations and limitations and it is nice to be able to go explore and do things of interest without being rushed or influenced by other people's opinions. maybe i'm seeing the silhouette of a crooked tree at sunset and I'm having a moment...the last thing I want is my buddy trying to hurry me up because he's getting bored.

its seems that everything now days is either "right" or "wrong", but when I go out by myself and i'm alone with nature, there isn't right or wrong...there just "is" and I really like that...

I solo camped at the Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo this past weekend and made some new friends! I have no problem solo camping, there's a certain peace to it!

I was going to go to SAVE this year but had to back out. My loss of not being able to meet you.

Yeah I saw it. But I will be driving my daughter to school in Cali. Then I will be driving a friends car back to SWFLA. So I will miss it.

Nothing wrong with solo camping. Years ago, for a summer, I bicycled with a 50 lb pack to the outskirts of an archeological dig and set up camp there, cruising in for the day to dig, heading back to camp for the night just because I didn't want to A)spend the money to be in the university set-up former, and B)probably wouldn't want to have been around everyone anyway, C) but I should have invited some of those college honeys out to the campfire

Yeah. It was the very late 80's. Camp Trails big Grey Wolf backpack, packed to the gills with spaghetti-o's, dainty moore and pop tarts. Helmet was when the ABS outer shell was like 2 or 3mm thick. All I had was a 10 speed with ram horn handlebars to go miles and miles of road and then on trail to the camp site.

Rained like mad that first day riding into camp. Unpacked and sat in the middle of the tent miserable and found like one dry towel in the center of the pack.

Rolled into the dig site the next day all of 130 pounds with the backpack all tall and blocky like an astronaut's. Site manager went to take the pack of my back and couldn't lift it with one hand and was incredulous id riden 40 miles with it.

...Wonder why my back hurts at 55y...
