This is hard to say cause its very dependant on each person(s), the rig and the comforts you want to bring with you. For starters having shelter, food and water is the most vital. How you store food and keep it from spoiling is up to you. Some chairs etc.

For long trips, this depends on your definition of long. Are you out for a week or two? a month? full time?

I would Google search for "camping packing list", "offroad recovery packing list" etc. and pull the things you like from each and make your own list tailored to you. What I like to do is think, 1 - what do I need to cook/eat during this trip? 2 - what do I need to sleep during this trip? 3 - what do I need in case of a flat tire? Just asking myself how to overcome different scenarios etc. Eventually you'll have a smooth packing list and storage all figured out like a pro.

When in doubt, all you ever really need is a credit card. :tearsofjoy:
