This is the concept! This is also where people get into trouble. Just because you have a lot of money to through at your vehicle, doesn't mean its a better vehicle. It is all about the driver's capability with the equipement on hand.

I have seen 2wheel drive, low clearance vehicles go where a lifter, atlas equiped truck coulndn't, because the driver wouldn't listen tot he other people on the trail.
I remember a Jeep guy who had big money poured into his rig talking shit about my XTerra down in Moab. He took on an obstacle and I had to stand next to his driver's front wheel and yank out on his fender flare so the tire didn't rip it off. I then did the exact same obstacle, taking the same line and had no problems.

His excuse afterwards was that he bought the Jeep that way and the previous owner/builder clearly only meant it to be a mall crawler.

The whole overland/camping crowd isn't bad for the most part. It does seem that unless you're in a Jeep or Toyota you don't get much of a second look. I drive an old primer gray GMC and even though it's built well beyond 90% of the overland rigs out there, it barely gets noticed. I didn't build it to get attention or to impress anyone but it's nice to get a nod from another off road guy regardless of what he's driving.

I see this just about every day at a Chrysler service dept. I just start calling their rig a Chrysler to tone them down a hair. Not sure why, but most 'Jeep snobs' get a little butt hurt by that description.

Lol tell em it has the same engine as a journey. I too talk jeeps with some folks that come in. Most are good people that like having a jeep and offroad is a dirt over asphalt. Was talking to a 70 something year old the other week. Stoked to show his jku with some nice rims at the beach. I showed him mine all scratched up. It was a good time.

Call it a Fiat and watch their hair stand on end.

Do that to a Ram guy and watch his head explode.
I can tell you there is not any fiat in either the ram or wrangler. At least not the 3/4ton and higher. You will recieve your hate mail soon

That is one of the best things about this forum...does not matter what you drive...just that you drive something and get out and explore. I have had all kinds of 4x4's and all have had their pro's and con's. I get the...guess your not a Jeep guy since you have an H1...I just laugh as I love Jeeps and LR's and Toyotas...heck I would have one of nearly every make/model if I could...I just wanted a truck that ensured I would have something to fix on it every weekend or at a minimum every other trip...so I got an old H1. hahaha

Keep it simple, be kind, be supportive, and get out and explore!

I used to get a lot of crap around the air station because I drive a Land Rover. (MCAS Beaufort)

Not just any LR either, a 2003' DII!

I've beaten the stereotypes though. Through meticulous study and examining others rigs, I've found needs of my own rig and fixed them, or have prepared for them. Through following open-minded individuals such as yourselves, I've been able to keep Gnasher running for many years now.

It's unreal how heinous and fucked up most of the LR forums are. I signed up for some of them, but the amount of contentiousness and hatred going around wasn't doing it for me.

Like, it's cool that you've worked on LR's for 30 years+, but it doesn't help me be a better LR owner if you force your systems down my throat with little to no coaching. It was like they all expected everyone to be on the same page, at the same time, every time.

Or, if you missed something obvious, you're not worthy to own what you own, but even then your shit is shit so gtfo.

Overland Bound continues to defend itself against that garbage.

As always, I'm here for the long haul.

Thanks for being awesome, ladies and gents of OB.

I can tell you that Fiat owns both Chrysler and Jeep, making them both Fiats.

Don't go down this road with me Stone. It's a dark and perilous one and paved with your tears
You do know I'm a tech for chrysler right? And I know fiat owns 51% of Chrysler. But you should know there is more Mercedes in these vehicles ive mentioned .I can tell you that besides the 8 speed trans and 3.0 eco diesel the truck line and jeep wrangler and grand cherokee have not adopted parts from fiat. Even the modules remain the same and not switched too the fiat manufactures. Now the Cherokee, renegade,200 and Dart are fiat based.
I'll go down the dark road, the boogie man is my bitch

And if you don't think engineering of all of those product lines isnt headed towards EU styling then you're insane. Gone are the days of "Chrysler" and "Dodge" they exist in name only.

I swear I just saw a quick flash on my Facebook feed that the next Wrangler will be an automatic trans only? Whaaaat?

Now I'm gonna stop I don't want your head to explode.

Like always? Wow Stoney. Not sure where that comes from. Did we have a grievance I was unaware of?

I'm merely stating an opinion. I guess the image of an exploding head is getting to you. The internet sucks for inflection, but I was just yanking your chain.

You are, however, proving my initial point.

No not at all. To your original point, it doesn't make me mad if you call it a fiat. I have no brand loyalty or identify myself but what I drive. I take it as a joke and will laugh it off.I was originally poking fun back and was responding accordingly I thought. Your opinion is your opinion.....it's wrong but it's still yours:tearsofjoy:

And fiat owns Ferrari.....if you call Ferrari a fiat.....blasphomy

There's even some Dodge making it's way to Alfa. The Alfa 4c uses a Dart transmission.

Will it be the dual dry clutch? The dual dry clutch is a fiat transmission. I really dig that transmission. It gets lots of complaints though. My instructor for that transmission said the stop and go driving from traffic kills it. Apparently constant slipping like your feathering a clutch. Lol sounds legit.
