Hi guys. I am looking for recommendations on OBD Bluetooth units and related apps to run. I run a new IPad mini with GPS in a ram seat mounted holder for navigation, Hema maps, repeater info for my Ham radio, etc. so looking for something that would be good on a new IPad.

Let's hear what you all run, why you like it, etc.

I have been using DashCommand for iOS and I like it, lots of features. I have a 3rd gen 4Runner so it’s limited on data I can observe but still, a great tool. I use it to live monitor my fuel consumption.

Since the ipad is cell assisted GPS are you planning on an actual GPS receiver for it?

iPad does not use cell assist gps. It uses gps without call service. Used it in Death Valley with no cell service and it worked just fine on preloaded maps . No issues at al

There are 2 models of iPad. You have to get the one with wifi for the gps functionality. But I don't pay for wifi data service on it and don't really piggy back it off my phone at all.

I have the Ultragauge BT ODBCII reader and use their app. I have not tried others. Not the cheapest reader but seems to work well on an iOS device.

The interface is basic and I don't think it can be used with other apps. So know that in advanced. Dash Command lists some compatible devices. Every once and a while it won't connect but I have not had any long term issues. I used to have the hard wired UltraGauge. Still have it somewhere....
