Hey all, the Colorado Springs group has consistently been holding monthly Rally Points, primarily trail rides, for the last several months. In an effort to make sure that everyone is aware of the Rally Points being scheduled, I'm going to start coordination of those events in this thread. Our hope is that the weather is going to start warming up and we'll be able to branch off of trail rides into real overlanding trips. This also makes it easier for those further away from the Springs to start joining since we'll be doing a lot of traveling within the state.

Typically, we have our events on the third or fourth Saturday of every month, so with that said we'll be looking at a rough date of March 21 or 28.

I'd like to open up the thread to ideas on this upcoming meetup. Please post up your ideas and we can discuss as a group!

@Cendee - What do I need to do to be able to create my own custom Crew? I've been struggling to ensure that everyone that's been attending gets notified on future events, and would like to be able to mass-invite those from our Crew to every event.

Thanks everyone!
I vote for the 21st since I have a trail run with another group on the 28th.

I'm probably going to miss this month, each weekend is piled with things to do. Plus a trip out to Missouri to see my Daughter, Son-in-law and 5 grandchildren.

But I'm set on going down to explore the San Juan's for 5 days-4 nights June 11th -June 15th. (Basically 4 days exploring) I'll be attempting to list a Rally point soon when I can get most the details hammered out. I know it's a little early but I would like to see the mountains during heavier run off. And there are several events coming up with the Colorado group , and you certainly want to stay home during the FJ Summit (July15th-19th).

@Fortis Overland, I'm still contemplating an April Weekend Rally at the Seep Springs OHV area that we previously discussed. (OB had an event there about 2 years ago that @JDGreens mentioned recently)

Those from Springs could come and go by using the Shelf Road and Phantom Canyon & Gold Camp roads (Gold Belt Scenic Byway) to make it more interesting. It'll probably be in the 60s during the day and mid-30s at night without much chance of snow on the ground. Would you be interested in making this the April meeting or would you like it to be separate?

Also, as for your earlier remark about invites, the best way I've found is to use the invite function inside the Rally Point itself.
Why don't we get it created as a Rally Point assuming that this will be our monthly meetup, then if we run into an overwhelming amount of people that are unable to go, I can setup a separate meetup. Can you post the Rally Point for it? Thanks!

Do you have a date preference?

Notwithstanding too much more craziness we may be down for a ride next week on the 21st just to get out of the house. Not sure if that is frowned upon now or not but I'll throw it out there...

Finally had some time to explore the forums more and landed here. Been a member for a bit. Me and the fam are based out of central Denver. As I have slowly been healing up, we are finally getting back out for extended adventures. Love this community and look forward to being able to be more involved.

Welcome James, from just south of you in Englewood. Nice rigs!
Welcome James! I was going to say the same--all 28 of your rigs look great :) haha!

Too bad you had to retire one. Still looks capable unless maintenance and repairs got the best of it. Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Thanks.

LMAO. It’s the first time I’ve logged on my computer. Different than using Tapatalk on my phone or tablet.

The XJ runs, just parked for now. A few years ago my back completely let go. Been a long recovery process. And as is true with any old modified Jeep, constant maintenance is a must. Rest assured, it will be rebuilt better than before.

Hi all!
I’m new on OB and found this thread, I’m interested in a monthly meetup for some trails and fun. I live north of Denver area along I-25. I see some discussion about possibly a meetup point for this Saturday, 21st, or the 28th. Is something still on that I can join with for my first trail?

I think we are waiting to see how much snow fall The Springs gets. I will try to update this tomorrow. But it should be down in The Springs.

Hey all, if you’d like to coordinate trail rides with the group, please reach out to @carlo_donz . He’ll get you setup with a Telegram account.
With that said, any plans that are made will ultimately be relayed back to the OB Forum to share with the Colorado group. We mostly use Telegram to discuss plans for follow on trip plans and ideas.

My wife and I are in our late twenties, no kids yet. We've been driving off road for years and settled into overloading. Rock crawling is too stressful for me- lol. We love the journeys and adventures that come along with it.

We're in Fort Collins. We have all these people chiming in from the area in this thread. We would love to meet some like minded couples. How do we accomplish this?

Welcome! My daughter graduated from CSU. I'm looking forward to exploring the Red Feather lakes area.
We have monthly met-ups going on down south. (Many are driving down from the northern area of the front range, I'm in Englewood which is south of denver so my drive in either direction isn't to bad)There is a camping/trail ride weekend set-up for the end of June. The Rally Point is already on the calinder. I doubt seriously if we will be meeting before that. But hope we can get together then.

Hi from Dacono. I am pretty new to off-roading but have met up with some in COS and since it’s 95 miles away, would be interested in some northern CO trails as well.
My husband doesn’t ride with me due to a bad back but I’m always open to get out with others to explore. I also am not into the rock crawling as much as mild obstacles and the journey/views.

Hello Kyle and welcome

As already said, we have been doing some trail run down in Colorado Spring (because the majority of then members live around there) but lately we got few people from your area as well so we could also organize something north/west of Denver if there is enough interest.

We are also using a chat app for random comms and trip planning (if you want).
The platform is Telegram, once installed message me and I’ll add you.

I will definitely do this. Looking forward to connecting. Also we have the exact same 4runner’s. I just painted the valences black last weekend. Sold my built 3rd gen last year and put it towards a 5th gen

You still did better than the TRD Pro @carlo_donz :laughing:
