Nice pic's..

Which way did you all go up to get to Flag Pole? 33 to Dunkle hollow, Union springs rd. or Briery Branch rd. and across the top of the ridge line.

So, when is the next one?! I know there's guys from around that do smaller day trip stuff. And I think @Exped4x4 has mentioned a pub in Clifton, VA where you guys have hung out before.
If it's the trail I joined them on one time, it's less rocks, lots more dirt/mud, and a few tight tree gaps ;)
Probably great for your Suburu I guess... although ground clearance might be an issue...

After the Flagpole Knob trek, I'm hungry for a longer distance adventure. @DRJ I think you were talking about planning something for next year right? Might take a week to finish...? I want to find a spot under the stars with no other rigs nearby, even if it takes 3 days to get there. Let's start planning this thing!

Right on. Even if I can't get my whip down all the trails, meeting up, shooting the shit & talking shop is always a good time.

Yeah there's a trail that someone on OB mapped out; Trans New Jersey Trail. It's supposed to be 450 miles. It's not anything like Flagpole, it's more of a mild dirt, gravel and small pools of water. However, it's supposed to go through 3-4 state parks. I'll find some more details on it later when I get back on my computer, but there are some YouTube videos on it also.

It isn't primitive camping, but I believe it's scenic. I still want to do it, just for something different.

Yeah scenic travels is exactly what I'm looking for. Less time in each little trail, more time enjoying new views.

This is the thread for the Trans New Jersey Trail that was posted with the details for the trip. According to the thread, the parks where you can camp along the way closes at the end of October and re-opens next April.
I really wanted to do this trail this year and I may try to fit this in at the 3rd or 4th week of this coming October.

So I found this plan that some of the guys from Expedition Portal went on this past June and they posted their entire plan including rally points, where to camp and the *.gpx file: https://www.overlandnyc.com/tnjt

It looks like these guys did this run in three days (not including getting to the rally point and the drive back home - which for the majority of us would be a half-day drive each way). Do you guys want to hit up this trail this year? Let me know if there is interest in doing this the 3rd or 4th week of October. I'd imagine it would be more like a 4-5 day trip for the most of us who have to drive up to NJ. If people can't make it out this year, we can always table this plan for next year when the parks open back up in April.

I would be down for the NJ trip BUT 4 weeks might be to soon for me. I would have to see if someone else has the time off, see whats going on with work at that time, and my wife would have to put in the time off. Plus I want to get some things done to the Jeep and I dont think I could get it done by then.
