New OLB Forum Theme!

Hey all,

We are continually developing overlandbound.com as a resource for overlanders and we have some exciting things in the works, including the upcoming trip planner we are developing called, "Rally Point" - More on tat later.

We've been working on a theme (a look) for the forums that is more consistent with our overall web page. The goal is to improve usability across mobile and web, and improve readability - that's the goal at least!

Please take a look at these two versions and vote for your favorite! You will be able to choose either regardless, but this will help inform which is the default theme when you come to the site for the first time.

Depending on what platform you're running on, there should be plugins to allow users to choose which theme renders. [emoji106]

I like the new theme, although the current is very comfortable to look at on both desktop and mobile.
I'm in the "change" mode right now though, so that factors in.

Also, anxious to see the Rally Point tool, sounds interesting.

That's been an option since day 1 of the forum. Here's how:

Of the two offered in the poll, I prefer the new look. I just plain do not participate on forums with dark or odd colored background. It makes my eyes hurt after a short time. Once of our members here has his own forum with a bright green background, and I get a headache every time I visit for more than a few minutes.

Since the beginning of moving the forum to Xenforo, I've used the forum's default style. Whatever you do, @Michael, please don't delete that option. It currently doesn't show the member number or globe, but is still much preferred over the black option.

May just be your eyes, I have astigmatism and the characters are easier for me to pick out on a dark background in subdued colors, even with corrective lenses. The amount of light entering my eye with the white background is not as comfortable for me.

From someone who has gone back and forth over the years on their own website that clean white look is just beautiful.. the easiest font to read is dark font on light backgrounds.

With that being said some of our over landers browse the site via mobile devices while in the backs of their rigs and a darker (night time) theme works well.

I'd love to see an option to set it currently in the app I'm 90% sure it's already there.
