Update: Since the vehicle was ordered, and this thread was created. Chrysler has not been able to build these due to several different lawsuits. In the end, I ended up with a 3.6L v6

Today, I finally pulled the trigger.

I've decided to replace my very faithful Cherokee Trailhawk with a new shiny (not for too long) Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.

Of course, the reason I'm so VERY excited about this, is the reason I had to order it.

THREE LITER DIESEL!

This is my daily driver, as well as an occasional overland rig.

I just couldn't contain my excitement, I'm sure you all can understand!

After inquiring about the progress of the build, I got this via email...

Dear Joshua:

Congratulations on your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk vehicle
order.

VIN - 1C4RJFLM9HC743563

According to our provided resources, all 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee
factory orders, equipped with the 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel are currently on
hold, awaiting certification paperwork from the EPA.

The EPA has not provided a timeline for receiving this paperwork, at
this time.

Please feel free to check back periodically for updates by calling Ram
Customer Care at 1-866-726-4636.

You are always welcome to reply to this email and we will respond back
to you as promptly as we can. If you prefer, you can also call us
directly with your questions at the Jeep Product Information Center by
calling 1-877-426-5337.

Thank you for choosing Jeep, Joshua. Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Mark
Jeep Product Information Center

I called the dealership that I ordered it from, and they basically said, "You just have to wait, there's nothing we can do. If you cancel your order, you'll lose your deposit." Not trying to work something out, not trying to calm me down.

I didn't (and still don't) blame them for the delay. But I do blame them for having horrible customer service.

Jeep may be able to salvage me as a customer, but I can say that I will never do business with Tacoma Dodge Chrysler Jeep ever again.

8+ year customer loyalty. Gone.

I love the Trailhawks !! - congrats on the order, I really hope they get their stuff straightened out soon.

I work with a lot of dealerships for work purposes and the worst, by far are the Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep stores. For example I've been dealing with a Challenger with an engine replacement issue for the past 6 months...! Been in contact with corporate as well, only to have them give me the same run-around. Simply unnacceptable.

Maybe I'll just keep my little Cherokee Trailhawk for another summer and see what the new Colorado ZR2 Diesel looks like after it comes out.

The problem is, that I would have to lose my deposit. Of course, I have no idea when it might be coming in...

This is a horrible situation that could have been avoided.

I hope so. But how long should I wait? That's the question.

It's been 2 months, and they don't even have an estimate. Of course, I wasn't told that they were not building them when I placed the order. In fact, it was just the opposite.
