Just bought a 4 inch soft foam mattress I am hoping it will help with my hips as they were getting sore with just the 1" backpacking foam under my heated sleeping bag.
I am hoping it will be enough.
Foam mattress is not cheap I had prices of up to $247 I paid $125
What is your bed setup for a com-fee sleep?

I’m a pretty big dude and the foam mattress is super comfortable for a night or two, but I was having issues with my hip hurting from sleeping on my side so we have a Luno mattress that’s inflatable that we fill up underneath and it gives us a little bit more, but it also deflates so that we can keep the footprint of the mattress down and went with the 2 inch foam but it works great.

I went with a cot and folding 3 inch mattress in the back of my LR4/Discovery 4. Having a 6 foot long load space helps a lot.

yeah, memory foam is the way to go
when we had our tear-drop trailer, we used a 5" tri-fold memory mattress since it could fold into bench/chair and do double duty in the limited space. 5" foam was nice, but now that I bought a cargo trailer and converted it, I was able to go with an 8" memory foam mattress.

the memory foam is really nice because the wife and I can climb over each other in the middle of the night and not wake each other up. cant do that with a conventional mattress because they transfer movement really bad. the tri-fold was nice, but it seemed like I was always having an elbow or knee go into the fold and hit the hard bedpan and that wasn't comfortable.

I still consider the 8" foam mattress "roughing it" because there is a 12" mattress available that I don't have yet...:grinning:

In the van, I have an Exped (don't recall the model but it's about 30x80) I use on the convertible sofa. Works great. Had it for years now.

Uniquely Us Adventures - I like the idea of an inflatable mattress under the foam one I have I will see if I can find one for a decent price here may as well be as comfortable as possible...
