Hi
Janelle and i will be travelling from Nepal, through China to Laos, abouth the middle of April. It is a 14 day trip with a guide.
We are travelling in our Toyota Rav4 and would be happy for any other Overlanders to join us and share the costs.
Starting at Kiryong junction Nepal and exiting through -Kunming-Mengla Port-Laos
Planned itinerary is:
14 Days Self-Driving Overland tour from Kyirong to Mengla port
Tour Destinations:
Kyirong-EBC-Shigatse-Lhasa-Lingzhi-Lulung-Bomi-Ranwu-Zogong Town-Yanjing-Shangrila-Lijiang-Kunming-Mengla Port-Laos
Itinerary: 13 days self-driving overland from Kyirong to Kunming
Day 1: Nepal border to Kyirong (2600m), enter China from Kyirong port. Where our guide will assist Kyirong. Overnight at Kyirong.
(FYI: IF time permits obtain ATP, otherwise you can do it next day after the office opens)
Day 2: Kyirong to Rongbuk (5050m) via Peku Lake (4600m).
Stay Overnight at local budget tent guesthouse. 370km.
Day 3: EBC(5050m)-Shigatse
After exploring the EBC we will gradually drive to Shigatse city (3900m), 360km,
Overnight at Shigatse.
Day 4. Work on mandatory paper
Today our staff will go with you for necessary paper works for the trip. Overnight at Shigatse.
Day 5: Shigatse-Lhasa (3650m)
We will drive to Lhasa via Gyangtse town, Karo la glacier (7200m), Yamdrok lake (4880m), 360km. Overnight at Lhasa.
Day 6. Lhasa City Tour
Today we will visit the cardinal landmark of Tibet, Potala palace and main buddhist temple called Jokhang temple. Enjoy the walk around sacred temple to enjoy local culture. Overnight at Lhasa.
Day 7. Lhasa to Lulang(2800m) via Lingzhi (476Km)
Today we are heading to one of the most beautiful land in Tibet, which is often called as Tibet Switzerland and further drive to Lulung to explore its rich forest.

Day 8.Lung-Bomi-Ranwu Town (360Km, 6-7 hrs)
Today, you will have few stops on the way to Ranwu town, where you can take photos and also can explore the most beautiful glaciers in China, which is known as Midui Glacier.

Day 9. Ranwu Town-Markam(430 Km), 5hr53min via G318
Highlights: Dongda Mountain Pass (5008m), Zogang Grasslands, remote nomadic herders. Overnight in Zogang
Day10. Markam-Deqin-Shangrila (400km)
Highlights: Meili Snow Mountain, Baima Snow Mountain Pass. Overnight in Shangrila
Day11. Shangrila-Kunming (640Km)
Highlights: Lijiang ancient town, Dali ancient town, Overnight in Kunming
Day 13. Kunming-Xishuangbana via Puer（520Km) 8hrs
Route: G8511 Kunmo Expressway (Highway)
Stop at Yuanjiang for lunch and views of the Red River Valley and beside can explore Puer’s tea mountains. Overnight in Xishuangbana
Day 14：Xishuangbana -Mohan Border (210 Km) 4hrs
The final stop will be in Mengla County and our trip ends from here after finishing the border formalities from China side. For others, you need to contact related agents in other countries. (then continue your other routes from there to Laos, Laos to Thailand, and finally Thailand to Malaysia).
Tour Cost Includes:
- All necessary travel permits to Tibet;
- Entrance ticket fees for all the sight spots listed in the program;
- All China custom papers works at Kyirong and Mengla port.
- Private guide: English speaking local Tibetan guide for the whole trip.
- Breakfasts in hotels only,
- Temporary license for driver and temporary number plate for customer’s vehicle, arrange at Shigatse.
- Welcome dinner for the group with show.
- Lodging (double occupancy) : 13 nights 3* hotel wherever possible and local hotels in other areas.
- Pick-up and send-off services at the beginning/end of the tour for the clients for one time, multiple pick-up or send-off services will charge separately;
- Oxygen canisters: Oxygen tanks for the group for whole trip;
- Lodging and meals for guide for the necessary places during trip;
- First aid kit;
Tour Cost Excludes:
- Travel insurance covers trip cancellation and emergency evacuation (recommended);
- Tips or gratuities for the guide and driver.
- Private transportation in Tibet: Tourist vehicle or supporting vehicle, if you need then it will cost separately, (car gasoline is included),
- All Nepal/Mengla side trips, border pick-ups or send-offs, other service.
- Tibet Group Visa (TGV) fee.
- Expenses of a personal nature (alcoholic beverages, laundry, phone call, etc.);
- International and domestic flight/train.(Note: we accept flights and train tickets bookings in advance, please check the updated cost and ticket availability with your travel consultant);
- Meals that are not specified in the itinerary that is all extra foods i.e all lunches and dinners, and beverages for the tour (Averagely a meal in Tibet cost USD5 per person);
