Yup... just cancelled my premium subscription to GAIA I’m switching over to CalTopo Pro. I ran into way to many problems when trying to share maps between people to review for trip planning. Even using the free version of CalTopo we are able to address our issues. Support response is very fast to answer questions... I’ve been waiting three weeks for GAIA to get back to me on an issue...I just downloaded Gaia GPS to help plan travels. Is anyone familiar with this IOS app and it’s reliability?

BCN Pro is awesome, unfortunately I switched to Apple, and the new Apple app isn’t there yet...Back country navigator is great too. I find gaia not good at all.

Thank you. I’m on the app and it’s a bit different than the web page. I’ll try on there!Go over to the Navigation sub forum and perform a search using the terms related to your question.I just downloaded Gaia GPS to help plan travels. Is anyone familiar with this IOS app and it’s reliability?
Wrong! The vast majority are happy with Gaia. Is it for everyone? Nope, never will be and you can't please everyone. CalTopo is more expensive than Gaia. M Rose seems to like to show his dislike for Gaia GPS whenever he can. That's fine but don't think because a few users don't like it the majority don't.Sounds like the consensus is don’t use Gaia!! You can't "share maps" in Gaia GPS. You can share tracks, waypoints, and folders with a combination of tracks and waypoints. I am not sure what you were trying to accomplish. I know that point is moot now since you have switched apps. Here's a simple example of sharing a track and waypoint in a folder: GaiaGPS - Death ValleyI ran into way to many problems when trying to share maps between people to review for trip planning. Chris, I never got a ticket #. I emailed them three separate times through the support link... finally out of frustration I cancelled my subscription. You can't "share maps" in Gaia GPS. Anyone with that link can see the data online. Then they can download that data and import it into Gaia or another app of their choice.
Am I biased to Gaia GPS? Yep... I have been using the app for 7 years. With that said I have paid to use many other apps including OnX OffRoad and none compare to date. If another app overtakes Gaia GPS for how I use it for off-roading, overlanding, and hiking I would gladly switch.
Michael did you contact Gaia GPS support and receive a ticket #? If so I would follow up on that. If I had a direct connection to Gaia Support I would gladly try to help you but I don't.

Map downloads are unique to each user account. That is not something that can be shared. You would need to tell people what layers to download.Chris, I never got a ticket #. I emailed them three separate times through the support link... finally out of frustration I cancelled my subscription.
As for sharing tracks... yup that part is easy.... but we needed to share the whole downloaded map with layers, waypoint names, correct icons, track colors, and such. Each color represented a different Objective, a different day, a bypass, a plan B,C,D. None of the notes are shareable as well. We found that GPX format doesn’t transfer any additional information, while KML(KMX) files share more , and GeoJsn share almost all the data imputes into the track or waypoint... unfortunately geoJSN isn’t supported by GAIA.
I am almost ready to compare GAIA side by side with CalTopo. I have a few more things I need to play around with first. But I’m hoping to be able to do my review sometime next week.

So you are saying the things I needed addressed just aren’t there... but I was able to do it all on CalTopo by just exporting the GeoJSN file... notes, colors, icons, it all transferred, along with the layers we wanted to use...Map downloads are unique to each user account. Track colors and notes should export/import but I have seen colors change and I am sure that could cause some frustration. Folder notes won't transfer because folders information is unique to Gaia GPS. Notes associated with waypoints and tracks should export and import.
Users can request help/submit a bug from within the app (Settings/Help) with a premium subscription a phone # is even offered. You can also visit the official help site at help.gaiagps.com. To submit a ticket you can use this page, Submit a request – Gaia GPS I am not sure how your requests fell through the cracks but mine have always been answered.
Gaia GPS also offers free and discounted accounts to first responders. I really think they would want to hear about the issues you had.Gaia GPS for Emergency Responders

Well what I said was including map layers in an export is not there. The other stuff generally works but I have seen track colors change during exports. We have both gone round and round on APRS. Tell Apple to change its code and then maybe developers could incorporate it. In other words for iOS this is an Apple issue and not a Gaia GPS issue. As for Android it is possible with work arounds. My opinion is Gaia won't add it, as I have stated, my opinion only. It is a big request on the Gaia Community site though. Maybe one day they will look at it for the Android version. So you are saying the things I needed addressed just aren’t there... but I was able to do it all on CalTopo by just exporting the GeoJSN file... notes, colors, icons, it all transferred, along with the layers we wanted to use...
So I do have some issues with CalTopo as well... the rout building tool is way better in GAIA than on CalTopo. Secondly to import files on CalTopo you have to use the web browser, making changes to the rout from the app is also more difficult on CalTopo than GAIA. There isn’t one perfect app, but the deal breaker was no APRS support EVER...
