So, the time has come. I've owned my 1999 Jeep TJ for a little over a year now, and like any previous builds, i always like to spend a year thinking about what i specifically want to build my rig for. After many days and changing my mind back and forth, i've decided to build my jeep into a fully capable Overland Vehicle.

Before i go into details on the build, i figured it would be a good idea to tell you why i decided to go this route. I plan on pulling my boat or kayak all across the country and having a vlog style youtube channel of everything i come across while im out and about. It's always been a dream of mine, so i decided now would be the time to bring everything i love to do into an experience i can share with everyone.

So far, im working with this:
-1999 Jeep Tj with 4.0 I6.
-Wore out my Dana 35 so i swapped out an 8.8 and welded an Artec Truss Kit.
-brand new ball joints/steering linkage/steering box/shocks.
-running 285/75/16 Ironman All Country M/T tired.
-Rough Country Stubby front bumper/Smittybilt XRC rear bumper w/tire carrier.

There are so many more things i've learned i've needed so stay tuned and follow my adventures and my build!

Picked up a Garvin Expedition rack for 450 bucks, has the basket and all 4 supports, but didnt have the back body mounting brackets. So i called Ron up at Garvin and special ordered some. Love the customer service there.
Going to prep the rack and supports for a new paintjob as some spots are starting to rust.

Installed my Garvin Expedition rack,
*if you own a tj and have a smittybilt xrc bumper YOU WILL have to do modifications to the mounting brackets for it to work, it WILL make you say a ton of bad words and regretfully call your rig a pos.*
But, once you get it done you'll take everything you said back and love the look and function.

Looks good. Pondering a roof rack on my tj too.
It's definetely what i needed for what i plan on doing and building my rig to be. A little pricey, but a little patience and online searching let me save about 700 bucks.

Got my Tuff Stuff Jerry Can mounts in the mail today. Decided to get them so i can bring extra gas to fill up my boat so i don't have to drag it into town to fill it up if im out on new lakes and extend my coverage on the water.
Also, for these brutal Texas summers, i ordered a car awning off amazon im excited to try out. Didn't like how pricy the ARB and Tuff Stuff awnings were, so i went with this one. Ill update everyone when it's at the house and installed on the jeep.
