I have a situation in which my Jeep w/ Gobi rack fit in my condo's parking deck, but it will not fit once my RTT is mounted (6' 8" clearance). I think this would lead me to needing to mount the RTT (Tepui Ayer 2) for each trip and then unmounting it upon returning so I can park the Jeep.

I would like to know if anyone else has to do this and how much trouble it ends up being OR if anyone has come up with a work-around for a situation like this (apart from moving, obviously). Thanks-

I currently do this. With a Jeep and a gobi rack:). It’s not ideal but each time I’ve gotten quicker with it. With two people it isn’t much trouble getting the tent up there, I’ve even rigged a level of sorts so I take must of the weight.

I’ve also found I can attach the rear tent bolts to the rack then tilt the rack slightly and rest it on top of the quick releases. This only tilts it a degree or two but gives enough room to get your hands under for the front bolts.

The alternative is getting the removable cross bars from gobi and permanently mounting the tent to those.

In an ideal world I’d have a garage with a tall enough ceiling for a lift to just lower it on but at this point that’s not possible.

I’m any case storing the tent off vehicle is certainly doable you just have to budget that time into your trip prep.

Thanks for your thoughts. Great idea about potentially leaving the RTT on the Gobi crossbars. I hadn't considered that. Thanks!

I still own 1 house in downtown ATL and 1 outside Savannah but the really challenge is the apartment in Louisville where I work 10 months out of the year. Found a small storage place for 50.00 a month and put it on a military trailer. Storage is 1 mile from my apartment. I like being able to leave the trailer behind at the campsite and go have fun without unpacking and packing up to just drive around or hit a trail.
