Hello everyone!
New(ish) member with an account I created forever ago. Hoping to get more involved in the overland community as a lot of my travels have been more solo, and things are always nice with friends. I live in Oakland, CA.
I started meddling with Jeeps about 8 or 9 years ago, and went through a TJ and LJ I largely built myself.

The jeeps were nice and I really built them into something cool (Looking at that LJ I still am drooling a bit), but I realized I didn't like rock crawling so much, and wanted something more in tune to long highway travel and spending multiple nights off the grid. Driving up 80 in a 20 year old Jeep with big tires isn't the most relaxing experience and you quickly realize why you see so many trailers in Moab.
So in 2019 I brought a gently used Chevy Colorado ZR2 diesel.

I ran this setup for a couple of years taking some memorable trips to Death Valley, and lots of local trips around Mendocino National Forest. Living in the Bay and not wanting to leave anything in my vehicle I felt I was always taking things in and out of the truck and just planning for a trip was exhausting.
Sometime during the pandemic, I decided I wanted to get into the Roof Top Tent game, with fresh Bush Company gear from CVT (CVT had just started importing it and putting on their own branding) and of course some bling like bumper and lights because you're not a true overland without a bunch of bolt on parts slapped on. I will say I really enjoyed the RTT, the setup was easy, and it allowed for many more trips over the course of a few years. However, how could I make this even more fancy?

But then I decided that wasn't enough because who really knows when to stop. So I purchase and had an alucab canopy camper built out. Now, I will say, even with my self deprecating humor, that this builds awesome. It's been on my build since 2022 and it's just so easy to do trips, everything lives in the truck all the time and I really think it is perfection for me on the midsize front (I've probably spent around 60-70 nights in it at this point)

Oh and somewhere along the way, I decided to take a sabbatical from work, buy a expensive van and #vanlife living in it around the US/Canada for 4 months with my partner and dog.

(Look at all that bling!!!) -- but we sold it.
Nowadays I'm just down to the truck and the alucab and even though its about 7 years old at this point still planning on plenty more adventures!
