What piece if recovery gear do you find you use the most? Or your top 5?

I think I have probably gotten the most out of my winch. But, in snow season the kinetic line def makes its money.

What about you?

Two most used combos that are always at the ready in no particular order:

- Kinetic line w/ soft shackles: Used when situation is not complicated and there is little to no danger of making things worse with a quick tug.
- Winch w/ tree saver & soft shackle : Used for intensive 'stucks' where surrounding terrain/topography could cause damage or injury, or simply where a more controlled extraction makes sense.

Squirreled away deeper in the rig:
- snatch blocks
- Jacks
- Chain
- Straps for bridles etc
- Traction boards
- Bow Shackles
- Winch extensions
- Fast Fidd for winch line repair

Unsticking other people, mostly one of my straps. Kinetic or non, depends on the stuck. Don't really see mud here and only really needed the winch in big rocks. Haven't had to extract myself with a winch in over 5 decades. I have been extracted by others and then it was normally a strap.
Almost all of my winching was either working 4wd event trail rides (people can be real stupid) and AAT work moving rocks and trees.
I do keep a full assortment of gear "just because".
This reminds me, I need to run my winch out and in. This keeps the brush's from being an issue.

Depending on vehicle ...
TJ :
1. Winch & tree strap
2. Tow strap
3. Shovel & traction boards.

Compass
1. Traction boards
2. Come along & strap
3. Shovel....

I carry a lot of recovery gear but most of it seldom gets used ( fortunately) lol.
I have winch anchors, and snatch blocks and shackles galore .....

I have winch on my truck, but have never used it. I had a winch on my old Bronco, used it mostly for recovering other people, never myself. Used it pull a stump one time. Now I use a strap or kinetic rope most of the time, depending on the situation to help recover other people . I have all of the toys in my recovery boxes on the rack.

Kinetic rope , soft shackles, and my hitch recovery point (to give to the stuck vehicle) are easily the most used recovery items

Self recovery traction boards have always been enough but I like the assurance of knowing how to winch to self recover if truly solo

Winch by far usually paired with traction boards , only time I every really get stuck is in snow also use a winch a lot for moving down trees .
