We have been contacted by the Mando forest about the possibility of a cleanup August 12-18. We dont have many details yet but once they are out I will update this thread. All the work will be in the Grindstone Ranger District, Stanford area.

FYI, Its not only OLB having trouble getting information out of the forest, The Post Wildfire Recovery group (PWORA) is having the same problem. If I dont receive some information by tomorrow I will pass on the vague info we do have.

Thanks for your patience.

I just got back from Day one, here are the details for this weeks post fire work on the Mendo.

Reporting time 0900 hrs.
Reporting location is Fouts work center. 39.35534 -122.65656 (do not go to Stonyford work station)
Camping is at Davis Flat Campground. 39.36047 -122.65466
Bring PPE as described on the Rally Point. Also bring a long sleeve t-shirt just in case you are using power tools.
All tools needed are provided by the forest service.
All trails are graded gravel and dirt.

There will be another work weekend in late September, I am working on the details with our contact at the forest to get this scheduled. The location will be far enough away from the work center that we will set up a camp for the weekend at the site.

Thank you to all that showed up to the work week at the Stonyford OHV area!!!

We are scheduling another work weekend soon that will be for Overland Bound members and friends. The work location is far from any campgrounds so we will be setting up base camp at the work location off the grid. Should be fun.

Working on scheduling the next work weekend for October 3-6 with the main work days 4&5. For this project we will be replacing post&cable barriers that delineate a sensitive reparian area. (see picture above)

The plan will be to hit this project hard with lots of people and try to get it done by the end of Sunday October 6. This is primarily a Overland Bound event but I if you know of someone that would be willing to help that would be greatly appreciated.

Base Camp will be set up will be at Summit Valley right next to the work location. This area is just above Letts Lake.

Rally Point to come out very soon, waiting on final approval from the Mendo NF.

From the Mendocino NF, for the members that helped with the Stonyford cleanup.

Our volunteer appreciation weekend is quickly approaching! At this time, we are unsure of the weather. Regardless, this is a rain or shine event! Please remember to join us for a potluck on Saturday evening. Hamburgers and cheese will be provided by PWORA. Buns and condiments will also be provided. We will be hosting an Open House and potluck at the Fouts Work Shop (next to dump station) starting at 4:00 on Saturday. Feel free to drop off your dish to share ahead of time. Tentative eating time is between 4:00 and 6:00 for Saturday. If you choose to bring your own meat or protein option, grills will be available. This is a bring your own drink get together.
Smokey Bear will be making a special appearance around lunch time on Saturday! (12:00-1:00)
At this time we have 215 confirmed volunteers participating. 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00 on Saturday is when the pre-registered Beta rides will take place. If we do get extreme weather conditions on Saturday the Beta rides will be moved to Sunday. Beta will be set up across from the old boys camp in the area we refer to as the Gas Stop staging area.
We are also hoping that folks who own drones would like to use their drones to record videos of the event. If you are interested in doing so, please send me a message!
We are really looking forward to this fun filled weekend and enjoying your company!
On Sunday, when you are out riding, feel free to report back any trail monitoring updates!
WE THANK ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO HELPED WITH OVER 1103 VOLUNTEER HOURS TO GET THE TRAILS REOPENED IN 2019.
See you soon~
Paige, Sarah, Shannon and OHV staff
