I’m Josh from San Jose, CA. Been a lurker for a while and decided to join up and hopefully meet some likeminded people looking to get off the beaten path. Enjoy camping with my family and trying to get more into dispersed camping and overlanding. We recently purchased an older Turtleback expedition trailer and working on getting it ready for next summer.

Hello everyone!
Just exploring new adventures for the next chapter of my life. I’m a retired USAF photojournalist and currently fighting cancer, so I decided to cut back on my full time business of commercial and portrait work to spend more time doing the things I enjoy. Which is mainly photography, lol.
I’ve travelled the world in many different vehicles, some more suited for off road than others, but even 2WD sedans didn’t stop me from trying the road less travelled.
I will be picking up my next adventure car on January 14 and driving back to Oklahoma with my battle buddy, Peep. It’s a 2007 Honda Element EX AWD and he has already done some stellar work to the exterior. I’m sure it’s not the most capable vehicle for many others to use for exploring, but I believe it will be perfect for my ventures!

Excited for the New Year and experiencing more outdoor life! Follow along on the journey of this new personal project.

I currently don’t have a rig except for my Renault zoe electric with a range of 200km

I am planning to buy one within this year and want to do a huge trip (Stockholm to Sydney)

I have a dog and do realize that it complicates things a lot.
Hope to be able to contribute to this forum throughout the years to come

I am one of the OB Ambassadors in Europe. @Polaris Overland , also OB Ambassador is based in the UK and could point you in the direction of the nearest Local Expert to you. Please do not hesitate to contact him or me for questions regarding Overland Bound, and the App or information regarding overlanding.

Local information for any of the OB regions can also be found in the Overland Bound by region forum. Each region has its own sub-forum. The UK, for example, belongs to the region West Europe. So, this link leads to the West Europe subforum. Feel free to introduce yourself to your local area here.

Please take a look at the Rally Points for planned events. There you can filter by region. There are plenty of meetups planned for 2025 for Europe already and more to come.

We also do a virtual campfire once a month, there are always members from many regions of Europe. Next one is scheduled for end of January. This is a relaxed online talk about overlanding, trip plans, gear, everyday life and more with like-minded people. Just join us next time if you like.
