Hi I'm Chris and this is my 1998 LMTV military truck. The back is set up for overlanding and includes bunk cots, a sink, a shower, fridge and toilet. Under the bed of the truck I have installed a 45 gallon water tank, 20 gal gray water, a propane tank and water heater. Also 200ah battery bank and a diesel heater. I also built an 8' long tool drawer under there. Still a few things I want to do, but extremely capable as is. Looking forward to doing some more overlanding and meeting other overlanders for trips. We're located in the San Francisco Bay area city of Walnut Creek. I've been offroading since I was 15, although I never really did rock crawling. I'm also a dirtbiker and often camp for that.
Hi Chris,

Welcome to Overland Bound!

Wow, that is an awesome rig. Would like to see more photos of the setup inside, please. How is that beast motorized, 6 cylinder diesel or something like that? Just curious....

Greetings from Europe,
Bjoern
Hello Bjoern, thanks for your interest. It is a Catapiller 6 cylinder turbo diesel. If you watched any of the recent Dakar Rallye, you would have seen some of the European (Eastern European) versions of the truck such as Kamaz, Tatra, Iveco and Man, used as race trucks.
I need to take some pictures of the inside. Here is the only picture I could find that shows a little of it. Shower and kitchen on left. Dirtbikes are where the beds would be. On the right is the crane(in red) that I use to lift the bikes into the back, with a small refrigerator behind that. Picture of the battery bank, water heater and propane compartment. Also the tool drawer I made. And a couple of Pics from previous Dakar races.

I’m Shaun and I have a 2008 Toyota 4runner. I live in the East Bay in the San Francisco Bay Area and I’ve been overlanding for 4 years now, mostly in the national forests up and down the Sierra Nevada. It’s been fun and insightful to read all the tips and stories from everyone on these forums. Learned a ton already, so I appreciate this community!
Welcome to Overland Bound Shaun.
Hope to see you out there, since we live in the same area!
