Hi there, just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I am located in Colorado near Canon City and do most of my exploring either in a 2002 Ford Excursion (Family of 7), 2013 Kawasaki Versys and Honda XR600R.

I've been off-roading, camping and backpacking most of my life and as the family grew overlanding seemed like a logical extension of that. Wouldn't say I am Experienced but I'm also not brand new.

Looking forward to getting involved and meeting up with folks from here!
Hello Dan, welcome to Overland Bound.

Hello I'm Thomas, north Alabama, and my rig is Atlas. Atlas is a 2003 lexus gx470. I actually wanted a landcruiser, but the gx470 was 5k cheaper and had a lot less miles.

I'd say I'm a novice. My only previous experience is abusing a Carolla (silver slug) off roading and traveling in it.
Hello Thomas, welcome to Overland Bound.

Hello everyone. My name is Brad and I just happened upon this well-sorted site/forum after searching for Mitsubishi rally | dakar | overlander vehicles. When I came upon "Overland_Mitsu"''s build of his Outlander Sport: Mitsubishi Outlander Sport light over land build ...I knew I was in the right place! Have no idea why I didn't find this site before?

Location: Sandy (Salt Lake City), Utah
Previous Vehicle: 1996 Bronco XL Pre-runner/Chase Truck (just sold it in July to a KoH Racer who lives in Moab...see images below)
Candidate Vehicle: 2022+ Mitsubishi Outlander (?)

Previous Experience/Why?:
Moderate weekend off-roader with more of a focus on desert chase truck work, performance rally communications (ham radio) support in Utah, Nevada, and Idaho, and support of ultra-marathon events here in Utah. No overnight stays in the field (had enough of that crap in the Army)...but I am willing to consider doing some of that again in the future before (and after) I retire in five years. I started off-roading because I got into supporting SCCA pro-rally in the mid-'90s in SoCal, Nevada, and Arizona. in the mid-90s...but then I only had a Ford Escort GT, and that wasn't a very good 'rally support vehicle'. So throughout the late '90s and early '00s, I visited a number of the off-road fab shops in SoCal that I could find when traveling on various business trips. After all that research, I planned my build and bought my '96 Bronco in 2008 here in SLC and embarked upon my 'rally support vehicle' build. The Bronco served me well for 13 years but earlier this year it was time to let it go. And that is what I did, and now a KoH racer living in Moab is the proud owner of my Bronco and is using it as a bonafide pre-runner!

So my wife and I are now setting our sights on a true overlander / rally-inspired / Dakar-look crossover/SUV, and I think the new 2022+ Mitsubishi Overlander fits the bill.

A couple of pictures of my former '96 Bronco are attached...along with an idea of what I want the "Overlander Outlander" to look like here sometime soon (the attached image is of the 2022 Overlander as it competed in the 2021 Rebelle Rally just a week ago in SoCal and Nevada...complete with Mitsubishi Ralliart Dakar livery!)

Welcome all suggestions, and thanks for having me!

Welcome, Brad! You might want to check out this newer Utah thread...nice to have locals to connect to: Where’s the Utah people at?? Love the Bronco, BTW. It'll be cool to see what you do with the new rig.

Previous Vehicle: 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero (when I lived abroad in Qatar)

Previous Experience/Why?: Novice-mediocre: lots of sand dunes and airing down stock tires, which worked great. Also had a scary day stuck off grid in the mud in Qatar in 115F heat. Don’t make that mistake! Off grid/BLM camping only for me in SoCal- don’t like seeing neighbor camp sites. Love getting out of town and into nature!

Welcome to the GX Family and to Overland Bound! A Silver Carolla is my daily driver. First car was a 1974 Toyota Corona, died after a little over half a million miles. Hope your GX keeps you going down the road/trails just as long.
