Hello, overlanders!

I've been a regular off-roader to the OBX (Cape Hatteras National Seashore) since the 1990s (I moved to NC in 2005) and a lifelong camper. I had my first exposure to overlanding last week in Alabama Hills region of (Lone Pine) California. I'm hooked! I own five vehicles, ALL of which are 4WD, but only one will be appropriate for regular overlanding: my 1986 Jeep CJ-7. It's currently undergoing a ressurection, having sat dead in my sister-in-law's garage for the last 8 years after my brother passed. I'm grateful that she has allowed me to get it restored to a road-worthy condition and feel fortunate to have it. It should be road ready in a month or two. So, I look forward to adventuring forth with the help of this knowledge base and eventually meeting those like minded.

Cheers!20210627_145019.jpg20210527_151501.jpg

Welcome Anthony! It looks like your Jeep will be a great overlanding vehicle, but don't hesitate to get out in whatever you have available. The experience is more important than the wheels :-)

Thanks. Yeah, I started with a 2003 Tayota Tacoma (my son now owns that), then switched to a 2006 GMC Yukon XL (still operational). I've also had my 2020 Suburban out on the beach. We just acquired a 2018 4Runner and have a Jeep Cherokee Sport, but we're saving those for less harsh conditions. Add to that our 26' travel trailer (2020) and our 2001 Cobalt 226 bowrider, and we spend a good amount of time outdoors! And we're looking to add a couple kayaks to the mix. If this keeps up, I'm going to need a bigger driveway!!!

Hello Ezz, welcome to Overland Bound. I would be glad to offer my opinion about overland vehicles, though that is not worth much, others here are much more experienced.

Hello , Welcome to Overland Bound.
I am the Northwest Director. @Gabriel Bozeman is your closest member representative.
To help navigate through the forums, here are some links that can be filtered by “Region” prefix. We are in the Overland Bound North America US Northwest Region (US Northwest for short).
Overland Bound Meetups- is where all member generated rally points are posted in forum format for discussion of Rally Point and other types of Meetups. A meetup can be as simple as a group getting together for coffee, a trail ride, or a full in expedition with other Overland Bound Members.
Overland Bound Trip Planning- is a great place to talk about planning a trip wether by your self or as a group.
Overland Bound Routs: Downloadable- is exactly what it sounds like. Search, or share your GPX files here with a description of the route and POIs.
Share your Overland Routes- is similar time the downloadable posted above, but doesn’t require you to share the actual GPX file.
Overland Bound By Region < North America < US Northwest- is where you can find regional members discussing local events, Overland News, and general topics. It’s a great recourse to mete others in the regions.
Member Maps- a great trip planning tool. It can also be used to send out messages to members near your location, or a location you plan to visit.
Rally Point- a tool used to creat Meetups or send out an SOS.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask myself or your member representative team. Again welcome and hope to see you on the trails.

I’m Wyatt, just came across this app and getting familiar with everything offered. I live in Grand Prairie, Tx by Joe Pool Lake. Currently trying to get some vacation time from work to head to the overland Expo West in Colorado. I own a 2015 Tacoma and just purchased my first rooftop tent and very interested in learning more and experiencing over landing.
