So the daughter finally had a chance to put her emblem on, it may take her another 6 months to get to the introduction page, so I'll post on her behalf! #OB13263 She's rocking a 1970 VW Baja that my dad and I rebuilt from the belly pan up for her first car. We've had this car for almost 20 years and I love the fact she's able to enjoy it. Bug1.JPG IMG_9952.JPG IMG_3797.JPG

UPDATE
So this happened on Fathers Day...
IMG_9031.JPG
Sadly the little bug known as Ernie is a complete loss. She's devastated and I'm at a loss of words. It was a great little car, filled with a lot of great memories, I had high hopes that she would be able to make some more memories in it.

Hello All,

My name is Matt (I also go by GT), I currently live in Maine but originally from Upstate NY (the finger lakes region). I have always been into off-roading, remote camping, and hiking, but I haven't been in a few years because of life and I sold my old truck. I decided over the winter that I wanted to buy a new rig and spend my summers outside. I had never heard of Overlanding until I was researching rooftop tents and stumble upon this amazing community. It's taken me a few months to get to the introduction forum but better late than never.

My rig is a 1989 Toyota 4Runner that I purchased a few months ago. I'm currently in the process of tuning up the the motor and fixing the body to get it back on the road. Once the main stuff is done I do plan on doing several upgrades, but one step at a time. According to the previous owner the 4Runner has seen spent quite a bit of time in Utah including Moab and Canada, so I'm excited to give it another chance for more adventures.

This was taken the same day it was delivered to my house, the roof rack has been removed, looking at other alternatives.

Had to get my Co-Pilot's Approval (This is Blade)

Hello everyone I'm Brandon. I have no experience with overlanding so I'm here to learn from you all. I recently purchased a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road with the hopes of getting my wife and 7 month old son on the trails. I just had the hardtop put on and plan to add a RTT in the future. I will have to reinforce the topper in some way before I add all the extra weight. I have rock sliders on order and was trying to hold off on a suspension lift but frankly I cannot stop thinking about it!

I am from Minnesota, a Minneapolis suburb, and would love to learn of any trail in the area. They're seems to be a shortage of trails in Minnesota compared to the west!?

Thanks in advance for any future advice!

I drive a 2013 Jeep Wrangler unlimited that once served me as a rock crawler and is currently being transformed into a family overlanding rig. I have two amazing daughter (Zoe 7 and Aubree 3) and a newborn son (Grayson 8 months) whom I cannot wait to share my love for the outdoors with. And I cannot forget my amazing wife Maya whom is very excited as well. I am an Ase master certified technician and former technician at Trail Jeeps in Golden Colorado. If there is anything I can do to help just let me know! I look forward to meeting you all out and about!

Hey Everyone,

I am new here but not to off-roading. I became interested in over landing on my last trip to the EU after seeing my friends pictures.

I used to be a Jeep guy with an 03 Rubi on 35s but have just purchased a 18 TRD OFF ROAD Tacoma.

Not gonna lie I'm not really internet savvy so sorry in advance if I ask lot of the same questions. Hope to see you guys on the trails !

Hi everyone! My name is Charles. I live in Charlotte, NC, and my current rig is a 97 TJ 2.5 soft top. I used to own a 4.0, but it was more of a continuous project than a dependable vehicle, so I had to sell it and purchase the 97. I've got big plans for future trips small and large. I very much love the outdoors, and have been hiking and camping since my days in the Boy Scouts. I grew up desperately wanting a Jeep, and finally at the age of 36 I have a solid rig to build on, and am VERY excited about taking in all the info that I can to help me along the way. As for my "experience" with overlanding, I'm still pretty new with vehicle dependability, but am an avid camper, hiker, and overall woodlnd thrillseeker, so I'm excited to have a vehicle that is capable of bringing more equipment with me to make life a little more...... comfortable, at least compared to what I'm used to.

I've been an avid fan of overlanding videos on YouTube for a long time. The knowledge is great, and I definitely enjoy the feeling of being a part of someone else's trip when I can't be out on my own at the time. I follow "IamJake" on YouTube, and his overall personality is what made me finally decide to be more serious about doing more trips and taking the initiative to make my dreams realities.

As for my Jeep mods, I currently have Front and rear bumpers and a Smittybilt SRC rack. Poison Spider louver, 51" straight light bar, and 31s at stock height. Yes, there is MUCH more I plan on doing. I want a RTT, winch, and at least a 2 inch lift. I also designed and made my own limb risers. I got the idea from a YouTube channel in Canada called "410 Expedition".

Here it is... I call it "Whiplash" after the Metallica song. I'm a HUGE Metallica fan, and my first Jeep was named "Fixxxer". I have hood and fender graphics that I'm going to put on soon, but because I travel for wok, my time at home is limited a lot, so being able to do much at one time is kinda tricky, but I make time when I can :)20180525_144408.jpg

Hello,

My name is Nick and I live in Helena, Montana. I’ve been wanting to get involved with this community for a long time but never jumped in. I had a 99 Tacoma that was pretty well set up for overlanding, but then I decided to go and get married so I had to sell the truck to pay for the wedding. I found myself back in a 99 Toyota but this time it’s a 4Runner. It’s stocl for now but I’ve got plenty of plans in the works for future modifications. It has 209k on it so I have a couple things here and there I should take care of before I start modifying her.

Just have some bigger than stock KO2’s on it right now624B8E54-C192-4AF2-BDDF-83F27638A644.jpeg

Hello, I'm Neil from Ontario Canada
I'm new to Overlanding, and 4x4's in general. A couple years ago I purchased a 2016 Wrangler Sahara that I'm (very) slowly building. It's also the family vehicle so the plan is to build it up a little to be able to get to more remote places on the weekends and haul me to work during the week. I'm eager to learn and look forward to hopefully meeting some of you guys out there on the trails!

So far I have done the following:

-2.5 in Teraflex coil lift
-Magnaflow exhaust
-Smittybuilt 9500lb winch
-Smittybuilt Defender rack
-Mickey Thompson Deegan Pro 4 17" wheels
-315/70r17 BFG K02

"Hello World!"

I grew up in a world of hobby mini bikes and trail riding. Gabrielle grew up in a CJ5 with her pops, mommy and 2 sisters. After a rather eye opening motorcycle accident, I've hung up the hat. Whats left of the horse is, I'm sure, part of someones brand new Gillette. I'm 48 and have outlasted my dad by 3 years. He past on at 45 in a motorcycle collision. At 24, I escorted him to rest in my dress blues on my motorcycle.

Life changes.

Time to get into a rig, continue the freedom and connection with the environment in a different way. So, a 3rd Gen Tacoma will be the choice. Our plan is a 4.88 regear and a number of mods including a +2 Long Travel Total Chaos Kit with rear by Deaver Springs. Other things in the dream build include:

Bumpers by CBI/Honeybadger
Rack by Leitner & Prinsu
Sliders by CBI
Armor by RCI Metalworks
Tool Gear by Decked
Additional Power by Genesis and monitoring & control by sPod
...and more.

We are looking forward to joining up with the LA, I.E. and OC overland communities. After or During the tacoma build we are getting Gabrielle back into a Jeep. The long jump from the CJ5 will be either the newer JL or tried and true JK...either way, a 4 door. Afterall, mom is a mom is a mom. Doors are important.
