Hi all! I'm new here and new to overlanding. Looking forward to getting out there.
I'm in run-what-you-brung mode so no yota or jeep, at least not yet. I'll be using my daily, an 03 GMC Sierra 4x4 Z71. It's old and has already seen a lot. I hope to show the old dog some new tricks. Currently it is bone-stock aside from a set of Falken Rubitrek A/Ts.
I live in Gas City, Indiana (AKA: middle of a corn field) but have lived in Denver, Colorado. I miss CO very much and plan to return someday. I guess when I think about it, my time spent there involved some overlanding in my Subaru. It also involved some canyon roads at 2am and a few mph :D, as well as a rally course at C.O.R.E. (Colorado Off Road Extreme). I hope my experience there as well as many camping experiences in my lifetime will help me thrive in this newly discovered lifestyle.
I am ready to meet new people and start really living this life outside of my 9-to-5. So, if you're close or plan to be close, let me know I want to get out and experience the world.
I'm currently waiting on temps to rise enough for postal workers to resume their deliveries (yeah, even the mail carriers run from -45 wind chills) so I can receive the rest of my camping gear. I hope to do some local cold-weather camping within the next couple weeks to gain experience before I take on bigger/longer trips.
