Greetings,

Jayson from San Diego here. I've been taking my Jeep JKU Rubicon off-roading for a few years and love the thrill and excitement of overcoming challenging trails. At the end of the day, I'd like to just chill, enjoy the view, and sleep under the stars. My kids are growing up pretty quickly and I hope this can be something we can do as a family.

Hi all,
We’re Paul & Rachel from northern Virginia. We’ve been looking at Overland Bound for a while to get some insight into buying our first rig.

A couple of weeks ago we bought a 1997 Toyota 4Runner and we’ve been in the process of getting her to a good baseline. We still have a lot of work to do but it’s been a fun project so far.

I’ll post photos once we get enough posts under our belts.

Y’all have a cool community here, looking forward to a lot of learning.

Hi Everyone!
Lone-Wolfin' here. Not sure why I took so long to join, but better late than never!

Location: Atlanta and North GA Mountains.
Rig: 2013 Off-road Tacoma
Experience: Novice

I've been a hiker for years now and finally decided to get a Tacoma to help me camp easily and get to trailheads. I honestly had no other plans than that. Well, it's almost a year later and I can't say no to modifications or additions here and there on my rig. I'm truly hooked on something I didn't really know was a thing and I'm so happy I found it.

Hi everyone ... Jon Norris here ... just joined Overland Bound this evening. I've done a lot of hiking, climbing, camping etc over the last 30 years+ and have just got my first 4WD so that I can get into overlanding.

Took my standard-fit Outback (Oscar) to Joshua Tree this past week and got it dusty on the Geology Tour Road and Black Eagle Mine Road. Planning to do a bunch of upgrades to Oscar over the coming months. Would love to hear from other members who have experience of Outbacks and using them for overlanding.

Looking forward to talking to you and learning from you :-)

Hey yall, I'm Mo, I'm from Placerville, California, I live in Southeast Louisiana, my experience is mostly in rock crawling when I was a younger, I had to sell off my rig when I discharged from the Marines and have been without one for some time, but that doesn't stop me from participating by hitching a ride or joining in some meet ups, I'm in search of a new rig build as time and money allows me haha, I look forward to speaking and meeting yall, and lord willing getting back on the trail sometime soon!

Looks like this is the place to begin. Bill from Oakland (home) and Bear Valley (cabin), CA. 2018 4Runner, TRD Pro...stock for now, but getting lots of rig envy looking through the posts here. I'm new to the world of overlanding, but come with a history of backpacking, XC skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and light off-road driving. I recently took an outstanding 1-day off-road driving class from The Driving Company* in Hollister, CA, and now feel comfortable tackling moderately challenging terrain. I'm an avid fly fisher, so am particularly interested in trips that lead to fishy, moving water. Looking forward to exploring the forum and connecting with the community.

* Tried to post a link, but am not allowed to do that yet. Google "driving company hollister" and you'll find them.

Casey here! I am from Northern Colorado..a Colorado native with a huge background in the outdoors. Packed horses all over the back country and guided hunters for a big chunk of the start of my adult life. Horses and backpacking and mountain biking and snow shoeing are huge in my life. Worked as a wildland firefighter when i wasnt doing the Guiding. I am a truck driver by trade now so the time I spend exploring is normaly on time that needs to be well spent! Have a 2017 ram 1500. Has a three inch lift with 33.8 tires. Daily driver but it loves to get dirty. All of the pickups and Jeeps Ive owned sense legal driving age were always set up to get me places as far back as possible so that it was possible to set out on foot or saddle a horse and disappear for a few days or weeks depending on the job at hand. Being self reliant has been a big part of my life

Tanner here!

I just joined and am excited to be a part of this overlanding community. I am located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My offroad experience is moderate-experienced level (I've had a lot of trail time around Moab and Colorado). I am in the gradual process of modifying my 2016 Subaru Forester 2.5. So far it has an LP Adventure 2" lift, 225/65/r17 BFG KO2 tires, Motegi Mr139 wheels, and a roof rack with recovery ramps. I recently took it on a road trip with my father and brother to camp and fish in Colorado and to explore the Moab area. I found the limits of the forester's approach and departure angles on the "Day Use Only" section of Fins N Things in Moab lol. I would like to ask members of they know of any quality fab shops that could make custom bumpers. Thank you all! I will continue to be active in the forum and will post trip/build updates.IMG_20180807_071437_707.jpg

Thanks, Kent. I'll keep an eye out for local meet ups. I work in Pleasanton, so Tri-valley or East Bay are perfect.

Hey y'all, my name is Tyler! I am 22 years old and I'm a passionate outdoorsman who loves the mountains of North Ga and surrounding areas. I'm a Ford and Chrysler mechanic at a dealership near my house. On my free weekends I enjoy riding to North Georgia to explore US Forest service roads and camp alongside them in some more of the open spots. Soon enough I'll expand to Alabama and Tennessee.IMG_1612.JPGIMG_0333.JPG

I live in Covington, GA which is about 45 minutes east of Atlanta.

I have a red 2001 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab PreRunner. I did a 4x4 conversion using 98 model parts so I have manual hubs, and fully manual t-case. She's lifted 3" with Eibach front coilovers and HD leafs and Toytec BOSS shocks in the rear. I'm riding on 33" BFG KM2's on stock Enkie wheels. I recently purchased a tan Softopper that I will be installing this week. My next upgrades will be lockers for the front an rear and eventually I will build a custom bed rack to work with the Softopper.

I've been outdoors all my life through camping, hunting, fishing, and riding fourwheelers/dirtbikes. I've been offroading since I could drive my own truck (even when it was still 2wd!) A couple years ago I decided to start taking all my camping stuff with me on the trails and camping off the side of them. After doing this for a few months I realized it was a real thing called overlanding. Since then I have looked into it much more and even went to Overland Expo East last year, and will be returning this November!

I look forward to meeting and being in community with y'all. Feel free to reach out!
