New Members,

Welcome to the Overland Bound community! Please take a few moments to introduce yourself so we can get to know you!

A few things you might want to include in your introduction are:

1) Picture! If you have a rig, we want to see it!
2) Location (General area is fine)
3) Rig (Year, Make, Model, etc.)
4) Overlanding Experience Background (Novice or Experienced, you're welcome here!)

We're glad you've found us and look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

In addition to getting to know you, here are the guideline sent to all Moderators of the forums. It's a natural reflection of our community, and what Overland Bound is all about:

From @administrator
  • Overlanding is: "Vehicle Dependent Travel". Nothing else.
  • We will not further define "overlanding".
  • "Capable" depends on the requirements of the trip, and we take that very seriously.
  • You are an Overlander: Overlanding is for everyone who has exploration and adventure in their heart, or, who need to be reinvigorated by connecting with nature. Nature is unforgiving. You must rise to a certain level of personal awareness to survive. Sound right? Overlanding is for you.
  • Encourage uncomplicated ventures into the great outdoors. Don't over pack.
  • Be prepared, and understand basic requirements. Question folks, to be sure they are aware of what is required. Don't assume.
  • Share without reservation, trip locations, and information.
  • It doesn't matter what you drive: The only requirement of an Overlander is that the vehicle serves the job required, safely.
  • We do not care about make or model.
  • We do not engage in "this is better than that" competitions.
  • We DO give advice about how to make your vehicle ready for what you need. Share knowledge.
  • Humility.
  • We respect, fear, and protect nature.
  • "I don't know" is a great answer.
  • We don’t brag about exploits.
  • We seek answers from the community when we don’t know.
  • We engage in the very smallest of interactions.
Definitely excited to join. Colorado native and grew up camping in the mountains. Moved to west FL years ago had a family and here I am lol. Trying to get my kids and family out in the forest and to enjoy the outdoors like I do. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, camping are definitely on our agendas. I've been working on an unusual build for the family wagon offroader... I have a 2019 Kia Sorento lx v6 AWD, added a 2" lift, Yokohama geolander AT tires, alluminum front skid plate is on it's way from turkey... the interesting thing about th he kia is there are more options for offroad upgrades oversees. But I'm working with what I've got and enjoying it. The pic I attached of my white Sorento is mostly stripped down since it was the day it came back from the lift shop. Will be loaded back up again next month for our camping trip to north west FL. The fully loaded pick is from a build done in Australia. #goals. Thanks again and I look forward to being involved and hopefully meeting some like minded people down here in FL

Hidy Ho Neighbor.
I'm Mike from Salt Lake, meet Clifford. She's only 2wd and bits me in the butt regularly.
A rudimentary rig with a simple bed in the back and a bunch of totes for gear.

Currently in the market for a 1997-99 Suburban that's worth the effort to build proper!!

I grew up in my Dad's 1995 and have a soft spot for those trucks. But maybe a GMT800 would be easier to own?
Look forward to learning from all ya'll.

The wife has been hounding me for years to go camping for years but I really wasn’t interested in roughing it since I left the military. Looking at some of these setups and not being surrounded by a bunch of people has gotten my attention.

Hey everyone, I'm excited to be a part of this group! I'm an engineer by day and pilot by night. I take my plane into the backcountry regularly, and when its down for maintenance I take my Ranger which I just added lights a level and some bigger tires to.

Hello my name is Kevin aka “Lucky Strike”

Location: Carlsbad, CA
Rig: 2019 Subaru Outback 2.5
Overlanding Experience Background: Novice

My Background
I am an avid outdoor enthusiast. As a California native, I love to hike and film our beautiful mountain ranges here. I received my B.A. in Music from UCLA and, my MBA from San Diego State. My day job is working in sales support for AT&T selling networks to the USAF. I reside in Carlsbad, CA with my lovely wife and two cats.

My goal is to take this lovely Subaru Outback to places more adventurous than the garage it is pictured in. I have taken it into the Sierras numerous times but each time have left it at some wonderful trailhead. I feel it is getting lonely with this arrangement. So I‘ve decided to start Overlanding in it.
