There are some cool forest service roads in that zone. There's one that heads up into the hills that takes you to Horsetail (I think that's the name) campground, an equestrian campsite. Lot's of good mountain biking & forest service roads to get lost on. Literally. I'm not set up with any FS road maps yet. I've gotta get that squared away, soon.

Just joined today. I finally pulled the trigger on a new truck, and look forward to slowly building it into a capable overlander.

After months of hemming and hawing about what to buy, I landed on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss. I was very close to getting a Taco or a 4Runner, but in the end a full size truck was just the most practical option for my everyday rig needs.

I recently relocated from Northern California (Bay Area) to Kansas City, so I am excited to try and find some good places to camp, fish and explore. It's going to be tough not being on the doorstep of the Sierras, and all that they have to offer outdoor enthusiasts like myself, but I will manage. I hear the Ozarks have some hidden gems that I can't wait to discover.

All I have done to the truck in the two weeks that I have owned it are steps, and LineX in the bed and wheel wells. My next purchase will probably be a tonneau cover. I will use Agri-Cover because I get all their stuff @ 50% off... Anyone have any experience with their hard covers and Adarac M-Series racks? Let me know your thoughts.

I am an overlanding noob, but have spent much of my life outdoors, and have done a fair amount of 4 wheeling and camping, so this is simply a matter of combining two great things.

Someday when I'm rich (or am an accomplished bank robber) I will get a RTT. I have a jar in the kitchen with a couple of pennies.

I really look forward to being a part of the community!

Welcome from NE Oklahoma There’s an overland expo in Springfield MO 2/15-2/16 if you want to head down and see some vendors and products in person or even get some build ideas.

Based in Houston, relatively new to overlanding but love camping and looking forward to doing more of both. Just recently acquired my rig, (2007, Jeep Commander XK, with 4.7l and QDII) and the reasearch and build process has just begun. Landed on this site after watching videos on overlanding over on youtube. I am looking forward to meeting like minded people, learning some new things, sharing new experiences and hopefully making some new friends along the way.

Hello! I’m Zoe and live in the Denver, CO area. I recently got a 5th gen 4Runner that’s also my daily driver (named Rosie in honor of Rosie the Riveter). You’ll find me and my dog camping or traveling more weekends than not. I’m planning on going on longer, more remote trips, hence the vehicle upgrade (coming from a Rav4… got stuck one too many times for my liking while solo traveling).

I’d consider myself relatively novice and am looking forward to this community’s guidance as I continue to build out my rig!

Cheers,
Zoe

Welcome to Overland Bound. Great choice of Rig, I almost purchased one on several different occasions. Jeff, you are located in the US Northwest Region. @Kent R is the Regional Director. @Gabriel Bozeman is your closest Member Representative and @Sandpoint Steve and my self (@Slimpartywagon ) are also Northwest Regional Representatives.
As you can see @Munga Brown is very excited to have you around, he has been wanting to get together with a local for coffee since he first signed up. Give him a DM. There are also a few other new members from Florence, Coose Bay, Newport, and Reedsport.

We have two events planned out for this year so far, and several more in the works.

June 18-21 Northwest Overland Rally in Plain, Washington. Pre registration just opened so jump on the online discount before spaces fill up to save some money from having to buy last minute tickets at the gate.

July 3-6 4th of July Weekend at 2 Rivers Ranch in Dayville, Oregon. This is going to be a fun event with a parade on July 4th through the city of Dayville, fallowed by 3 nights of camping in places the general public might not get a chance to explore.

Keep an eye on the Overland Bound Meetups section for more events coming to your area.

We have several Meetups happening every month throughout the region, although nothing is set up along the coast (maybe you and Martin can change that :) ) We have 2 conference calls each month that you are invited to attend where we discuss trip planning, events, and other gatherings. The longest running Conference Call is hosted by @Sandpoint Steve and information can be found HERE. The second call is hosted by @ButDad and is just getting started. More information can be found HERE.

Don’t hesitate to ask us questions, or just shoot us a DM with ideas and concerns, or just to bs. There is a lot of information here on the forums, but the best resource we have is community outside the forums.

I’ve been lurking for a while and I better just go and introduce myself before I space it out. I’m addicted to exploring backroads and started this exploring on a KZ650 and a bunch of surplus store backs and camping equipment strapped on. I have been messing with this JKU. The V6 and transmission have been replaced with a L83 and 8L90... And it’s EPA compliant. I also have a 2019 Ranger Sport... The Ranger is relatively unmolested... So far just the Ford/Fox shocks, Decked storage drawers and a Leer cap. I’m looking into various RTTs that I could possibly swap (easily) between both vehicles.
As for my location... I’m retired in Boise, Idaho.
Ray, Welcome to Overland Bound. I’m Mike R, your closest Northwest Regional Member Representative. @Kent R is the Regional Director, @Sandpoint Steve and @Gabriel Bozeman are also member reps in the Northwest Region.

I see you are going to the Northwest Overland Rally, so I won’t link the event here.

July 3-6 is the 4th of July Weekend at 2 Rivers Ranch in Dayville Oregon. There has been talk about a convoy leaving Boise and coming up to Baker City to meet up with another convoy to head to the event.

Recurring activities in your area:
Inland Northwest Conference Call hosted by @Sandpoint Steve
Monthly Treasure Valley Conference Call hosted by @ButDad
Monthly Beers and Gears hosted by @David C Gibbs in Payette, ID
Monthly Coffee, Rigs, and Trails hosted by @Slimpartywagon in La Grande, Oregon
Tri-Cities Recurring Monthly MeetUp hosted by @PNW EXPLR in Kennewick, Washington

I highly recommend the conference calls, it’s a great place to find out about stuff going on in the region that might not be known on the forums.

Don‘t be afraid to contact any of us with questions, concerns, ideas or just to bs. We love hearing from you.

So very excited!!!!
I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks for the goodies!! I’m over the moon with the apparel that has arrived......even though, queen an country felt it important to charge me even more money for the privilege of having it arrive from the U.S!!

I’ve attached a picture, can’t wait to attach to my vehicle....
I’ve got two vehicles......one is my overland camper, the other my every day truck....should I put one emblem on both???? Or put both on one??? Thoughts?!

Or do I need another two emblems.....aaaah!!

Any inspiration or thoughts welcome
