A 10/96 production date to be exact . I know of issues with cylinder liners slipping and cooling issues. However, in the few forums I've joined there weren't may post on transmission or transfer, or axle problems. So are these three pretty bullet proof and just need a good servicing.

Thanks in advance.

I have that year of model, the cooling issues seemed to effect the series 2 the most but any vehicle of this age could have problems of similar nature.

The drive train is for the most part solid and plenty of donor cars around to pickup spares.

The caveat is that if you plan to lift and run anythingbigger than a 33" tire it requires replacing all of the internals.

Hopefully that helps, lots of great Disco overland builds out there and plenty of support for doing so.

Cheers

Thanks Jethro,

From what I understand the rig is pretty capable in the stock form. Based on the list of issues it has, I'll probably be bored with it before the modification phase, and sell it on to someone else. We shall see.

No. I passed on it and wound up with an 03 disco. Slowly working the bugs out among other projects now.

Try this site a lot of great info regarding all landrovers, https://www.landyzone.co.uk/ it will certainly help with any problems with your D2
Thanks Roger,

I'm presently a member of DiscoWeb, LandRoversOnly, and the Expedition Portal. I haven't run across anything yet that I couldn't find info on at one of these sites. Well with exception of free parts and shipping!!

I'll add landyzone to my favorites.
