Hi all. I am planning to do most of the TET route Italy from east to west starting from next week. Made me wonder what i would do if i got stuck or worse, break down on a trail in a country where you don’t have a network of people. Here in flanders (northern part of Belgium) i am part of a whatsapp group called “ik zit vast in Vlaanderen” translated: “I am stuck in Flanders”. That a group of 4x4 enthusiasts that don’t know each other but are always looking for a reason to get their rig muddy. The amount of effort that some people put in is amazing, driving 1,5hr at 02 AM to pull out a stranger for free… made me think that this is the kind of help we as overlanders sometimes need. Would it not be good to bundle these groups in one OB forum post and give overlanders access to them? If you then plan to travel to a certain part of the world, maybe its not a bad idea to ask to be included in those local groups. Is this a rare occurrence or do you guys also have local groups that you are part of? Please let me know if you want to be added to the mentioned group

If you are planning to travel to or through the Northern part of Belgium, don't forget to subscribe to the following whatsapp group. They contain about 900 members now and are always quick to react. The majority speaks English so don't hesitate to ask for help in English.

I would like to take this opportunity to refer to this thread here:

WhatsApp and Facebook | OVERLAND BOUND COMMUNITY

These regional social media pages and groups are not official Overland Bound channels, but groups and pages maintained by members for members. The basic idea is that we exchange ideas here in the forum, help each other, plan meetings and use all the functions and features of the forum and the OB1 app. Nevertheless, I understand that some members like to use messenger services for quick communication.

But, I strongly encourage all of us to use the forum and the OB1 app. On the one hand, the app offers an awesome platform with great possibilities and functions and on the other hand, information is not lost here. In such a well-structured forum, you will find information and answers to questions even years later, while in the usual social media channels and messengers this usually disappears after a very short time. Another big advantage is that everything which is posted here in the forums and the app is available for all members and not just for members of any regional messenger or social media groups.

So have fun, go on awesome trips, enjoy the grreat outdoors, meet up, share your adventures and help each other. All the best for 2025 and many great trips in the new year!
