For years i have been using a replacement Lithium-ION battery in my Harley Electraglide and BMW R1200GS and I have not had any issues.
However it has been I use them or I don't use them, the good thing is the power is consistent until it gets to 10.5v then it dies and when it does it may not recover and recharge.
The good thing for the Harley it was 625 CCA.
So what is the feasibility or justification to have Lithium batteries for a SUV/Offroading vehicle except for the CCR.
I can think of the following.
PRO’s
1. for the same size battery you could mount 2 lithium's in parallel in the same space giving more amps
2. allowing more things to be run when the vehicle is running
3. Better / flatter discharge rates ( I think your comment about consistent power is related, just a finer point)
4. 4x or more charge cycles than SLA/AGM
5. faster charge times
6. 1/4 the weight of SLA/AGM
7. lower TCO
CON’s
1. if they get wet they explode
2. higher initial cost
3. more volatile
I'm just trying to justify why or why not I should think about getting it
Edited the list to add PRO/CON from member pl626
