It appears as though the Red Flag law has not passed yet.

However, SB238 did pass, and eliminates any personal transfers. All transactions must be done by an FFL dealer.
Online Places like Jasonsguns.com can still advertise, but any transactions between people should be done through an FFL dealer. This is not to say people won't skirt the law.
In fact, I actually had an Espanola Police officer attempt to purchase a weapon from me, but didn't want to fill out my owner personal form. I stipulated that if that person had a CCL, they could forgo a Notary Public stamp, as I am also an CCL person. I stated to this cop, that he would still have to sign my paperwork, indicating he has possession of this weapon. He didn't want to do that. I think this speaks to the corruption of some of the cops in Espanola. I believe he was looking for a "drop piece" that the could drop on the scene to cover himself in a bad situation. Sad.

Did new mexico go with the red flag deal as well?
I believe so. We have not one conservative representative from NM in congress or the Senate of the USA. NM is officially a total socialist state as far as representation in government. In state government it is total socialist majority in both houses and the Governor.

I had to look up your governor but it says she was born in NM, grew up in Santa Fe, went to university of NM, and says she is 12th generation NM. I didn’t realize she used to live here? When was that?
Supposedly she was a congresswoman in the state of Washington before moving back to NM ! Read post # 802.

Being that she was a member of NM congress prior to being Governor and the article stating -

"As for Lujan Grisham, a former Congresswoman who was a reliable vote in Washington when it came to gun control, had the strong endorsement of groups such as Giffords and Moms Demand Action in her run for the Governor’s Mansion. Statewide last year, Everytown provided $400,000 to Dems running for office in New Mexico."

I think they are referring to Washington D.C.? I am also finding nothing about her serving in Washington State at anytime on the WA State Gov. website?

While we have plenty of anti rights people working against us here in Washington state I dont think we can claim this one.

Steve, are you an FFL dealer ? If you are I understand you must obey the law or lose your license. I'm sure you are aware very few people in NM WILL obey this new law on gun transfers. I know for sure I won't. It is an unenforceable unconstitutional law and without mandatory gun registration to know who ownes what, I will pick and chose who ever I choose to transfer my personal property. A criminal is not going to obey any law !
I guess the state just made me and a few hundred thousand others into criminals. I will be a criminal by state standards now that a stupid law has been passed. I will never give anyone permission to Violate my God given right to buy, sell or give away a piece of my own property to whoever I choose. I believe the cop in Espanola that you have pre judged is being slandered by your comment regardless of your good intention to obey the bad law yourself.

No, I'm not an FFL dealer. I've purchased a couple of items from places like Sportsmansguide and had them delivered to local SF FFL places.
Agreed, any criminal will not obey the law, and will obtain any weapon they can through whatever means they can, including breaking into homes and cars to steal them.
As for people in NM that will obey the law, well.... I can think of a few democrats that will really be torn up about supporting their democratic party and the choice to hunt. Most of N-NM is heavy democratic folks, and yet there is a lot of these same folks that like to hunt. The same folks that are voting for these tone-deaf democrats in congress don't realize they are also voting to have their hunting reduced to just a sling-shot and maybe a bow. You know, that is the most craziest thing about this entire political process. These people running for office are willing to make criminals out of law abiding citizens for no other purpose than to "supposedly" take guns off the street. The truth of the matter is, criminals will always get weapons. However, our senators and house members seem to live in an echo-chamber and do only what a few people want them to do. They are willing to make most of the country into criminals, overnight, and could care less about the fallout. The obviously don't care about the Sheriffs or police that will be "forced" to enforce this crazy type of law. I think after more than a few Sheriffs and police go home in body-bags, will the local authorities start to realize this unconstitutional law is not worth enforcing. But, there will always be places like Los Alamos, Santa Fe, San Francisco and other liberal heavy places that will be all to happy to comply, and the residents of those places will report to the police the "friends and family" they know about that have weapons. Personally, I think this is going to ignite a civil war that the democrats are all to happy to fight from the leather armchairs of their offices in Washington D.C..
As for the cop in Espanola, I gave him plenty of opportunities to purchase the proper way, but he decided to look elsewhere. As for slander, it's just my opinion and freedom of speech to speculate why he wanted to skirt the proper process of purchasing a weapon, and have no tracking as to how he came into possession of a weapon. Indeed, there are no facts as to why he didn't want to sign the paperwork, but when a deal smells bad, there is usually something foul afoot.

Hmmm that's really strange because during her campaign for governor, her opponent said "we don't need a Washington state liberal transplant coming to our state with her liberal Washington state ideals". She barely won the election.
If I'm wrong I'm sorry. We do have plenty of wackos here that we call the elite who somehow with their money run this state to their liking. It is a corrupt state from my point of view.

Prime example of elites running the place is Los Alamos. There are plenty of easterners running the county. Here is a classic example of how the county attempted to strip the past Sheriff of his duties:

I honestly don’t know one way or the other I just could not find anything on the inter web about her being here?

As for transplants pushing agendas I’ve been a WA resident my whole life and watched things go from “it will never happen here” in the 70’s-80’s to “OMG we are now California 2.0.”

As funny as it isn’t. I’ve been listening and painfully laughing at those in Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and soon Texas saying “oh that will never happen here!”

Want to bet? It doesn’t happen over night, it’s chipped away over time. Just give it a few election cycles. It’s coming and you can’t stop it. Your once great State will be slowly be eroded leaving you with something you will no longer even recognize as home.

Until you experience it, it seems impossible.

Ain't that the truth. Indeed, you guys are CA 2.0. Seattle is a hot-bed of craziness, with too many folks thinking they live in a utopia of perfectness, until it isn't.
With more and more folks living in the big cities, I think most folks have come to think, they are owed some type of service or tangible item (housing, food, cell phone, happiness), just because they are still sucking air.
Well, when Islam starts to creep in, as is happening in Europe, and laws start changing to favor them (oh, wait, that's already happening), people may wake up to their error. However, by then, it'll be too late. They have already given up any tools they could have used as a self defense against roving mobs of Islamic youth, bent on enforcing Sharia law.

Yeah, until your experience it, it seems impossible.
Unfortunately, I think we as a country as sliding down that PC culture death ramp.

Like me, it is your gun to transfer, you have a right to dictate the sale to whoever you want. I support your view on that ! A gun owner must use good judgment when he sells a gun as part of the rights given to him to own one himself. It's just another built in part of being a responsible human being in all that we do.

You speak about Democrats who want to protect their hunting rights. That part bothers me to no end. Every time a democrat runs for office they claim their desire to protect your gun rights to hunt, as did Xochitl Torrez Small in her election campaign. Our gun rights were not given to us to hunt, our gun rights were given to us for our protection and against a tyrannical government or invaders. Our weapon must be equal to the weapons we face, hence the AR's, AK's etc. In WW2 it was our weaponry that won the war and with brave men carrying them . Our M1 and Thompsons was so far superior to anything the enemy had it wasn't funny. These liberals want to take away guns they call weapons of war, "meant to kill men". Every weapon could be called that. My favorite hunting rifles are the O3 A2 Springfield used to fight wars in the 1920's, My German 8mm Mouser was a WW1-WW2 war weapon, My Mosin Nagant 1891 was used in war clear up to WW2 and in Hungry until 1958. I also have an SKS the mother of the AK 47, and a 30-06 M1 battle rifle, both semi automatics and several more. I hunt with all these and more. I can also defend myself against what most other bad guys are carrying barring our own army's fully auto weapons. No, I wont give up even one to anyone and I will not register any firearm in my possession ever. Alaska has more semi auto AR's and AK's than any state in the union. It is the hunting weapon of choice for many hunters in this 21 century. It's all BS and many, if not most Americans have no clue and need to be educated.

Prime example of elites running the place is Los Alamos. There are plenty of easterners running the county. Here is a classic example of how the county attempted to strip the past Sheriff of his duties:
I have always understood that the Sheriff was the highest ranking law enforcement official in any county and supersedes state law and city law in law enforcement duties.. I can see where a sheriff should sue if that right is infringed upon. He is the elected law enforcement official by the people. These commissioners are always trying to over ride the authority of others. Obviously they have the Liberal judges in their pockets in N. NM, who like other liberal judges write their own laws. They are all in the swamp together, to quoin a beautiful phrase !

Lanlubber, I hear ya regarding the craziness of people who don't know, or maybe they don't want to know, what they are voting for.
What bothers me the most is the rampant ignorance on history. Anybody can look up what Hitler did with his own people, by first taking creating a registration of all people who had guns, then taking those guns, and then killing those people who disagreed with the gov't. This is the exact same path that our current gov't is attempting to take. Well, let me be clear. It's the same path the democrats are attempting to push on the people. Since this thread has gone 4H straight off the track and I admit cheering “send it!” I’ll attempt to bring it back on track to the original post.

Do I carry a firearm on the trail? YES.

To me nothing out of the ordinary since I’ve carried one on me 99% of the time for the past 20 years. It’s wallet, chew, phone, pistol, car keys, at a minimum. If you don’t know me you would never know. I don’t see an advantage to advertising.

I’ll admit I also do other crazy paranoid things that can be applied to overlanding like own a fire extinguisher, use a seatbelt, and get medical training regularly.

I used to carry a fire extinguisher in my '99 4Runner. I've seen vehicles get seriously damaged because of a small electrical fire that could have been stopped with a small portable fire extinguisher. When I get my current rig setup properly, I'll have another fire extinguisher on board.
Thats a fact. I was a firefighter for a lot of years and while vehicles can be brought back from a lot of things fire is seldom one of them.

You know medically there is two sides to a brain. A good side and a bad side. My step mother was a fairly decent woman with a mean streak until she had a stroke. After her stroke she was all mean with no good left in her head. That's very similar to the brain in a socialist liberal head. I wont say Democrat because I know a bunch who feel the same as me until election day and then they change overnight, like my step mother with that mean streak. As a child I think we are all Democrats' and with age gain knowledge and change. If you stay a Democrat it means you have learned NOTHING from life.

Yes, history repeats itself over and over. As smart as man is at everything else, many are stupid from birth to death. We just can learn a lesson and remember it when we have good times. We all have reason to reason why we do things. Some do it brilliantly with consciousness and concern while others do it without rime or reason, just stupidity. I think we pretty much agree on the gun issues. I have been a card carrying NRA member most all my life. I don't drink or smoke or beat my wife and kids. I don't take drugs, I don't belong to a hate group, I don't break the law, I work, I pay my Taxes, I am spiritual and love my neighbors, I do no evil, I love God and Country in that order, so why am I the skum of the earth according to the democratic philosophy ? I have one vise, that is my rig that I am totally dedicated too. I have 12 girlfriends with various names like .22, .22mag, 30-06, 8mm, 9mm, 12 ga. 20 ga., 30-30, 30 cal.303, and others, some twins, some doubles, some singles but all faithful to my need.

When I go on the road I look like an arms dealer. I'm still waiting for that car jacker to try and steal my rig but all the car jackers I hear about steal the low riders and Lambrogenies. If a bad guy walks up to me, he smells so much gun powder he turns and leaves. If I have five weapons on me I have 5000 rounds of ammo.
Question, What is 4H anyway ?
