During a trip to Big Bend last week, the radiator in thecopcar burst the upper tank. About a 3” crack near the top. Some JB Weld and a loose pressure cap let me finish the trip and get home. Another 700 miles. After I got home the Cold Case radiator I had been eyeing was ordered and delivered in 2 days from Summit in Fort Worth.

Apparently the design has changed a bit. I didn’t have to do any fan shroud trimming other GMT900 owners have done in the past.

During my recent trip it became obvious, from clanking, that the tire shop had lost most of the center cap spacers on thecopcar. I took the caps off for the duration of the trip. After a few days the look sorta grew on me, but the gap at the hub didn’t.

I thought about black center caps for a K2 PPV, but the price deterred me, especially not knowing how I’d like the look in the longer term. Enter Plastidip.

I found a new to me dome light on eBay recently. Now I can look at stuff in the cockpit without messing up my night vision.
“in darkness we find camp” to borrow a phrase from some dude On the interwebz.

Just how low does thecopcar really sit? For comparison….

Thecopcar doesn’t have the front air dam any longer. It was kinda low.

That ol' girl does hug the ground!
I might be happier in big ruts and rocks, but you'll be happier on any reasonable road, definitely in cross-winds!

The new ride, aka thethirdtwin, had some dash and console surgery to remove a dead 3G cell booster. The coax was 50 ohm, and was reused. The NMO already in place was awesome. I also pulled some 10/2 power cable through the console for a future radio install.

It's nice that the new rig has 4wd. That'll make things alot easier going forward. I rented that generation Tahoe for a week and loved it a year or two ago. So much more refined than my current generation. Quiter, smoother, and very responsive. I'm excited to see what you do with this!

I haven’t decided how much I’ll swap over and how much I’ll change/improve. The weapon locker is handy, but it’s tempting to cram too much in. I may so something along the lines of Suboverland For sliding drawers.

I pulled a wheel off of thethirdtwin to check data on the back side. I confirmed they are 18x9.

And since I was there….

I confirmed my hunch that 17” wheels will fit. I swiped the spare from thecopcar.

I’m looking at options for recovery hooks and possibly a pushbar. I have hooks from theothertwin. The fascia needs to be opened up.

I’ve never liked how deep in the fascia the recovery hooks for thecopcar sat. I decided to get actual K2 recovery hooks for thethirdtwin. I had a feeling the nnbs hooks would be recessed more than I wanted in case a pull happened at an angle, even though they would bolt right in.

Holy moly what a difference.

I had a few minutes this afternoon, so I got the dremel out and set to work. Sure I could have found a tow hook fascia, but I didn’t want to pull half the bumper apart to do it. Plus there was an ulterior motive…
