Hi everyone. I'm a noob from Massachusetts. Live just outside of Boston.
I currently have an 03 Subaru Outback Sedan H6 and my girl has an 04 Forester X. I'm looking into picking up either another Forester or if I get lucky and get a good deal on a Baja then one of those to turn into an adventure rig.
When I picked up both of them (it was within 2 days of each other) I had no idea that the subaru community was as helpful as I have found it to be. I also had no idea that people lifted them and went off roading with them. I figured hey I need some good reliable transportation in the snow so I might as well go with the best option possible.
NOW I have seen the light and realize there is a whole world of possibilities out there for turning a subaru into a decent off roader (I dont expect to be tackling the rockies or anything) but i figure for what I have local to me I think I could build one of these little buggers to be pretty capable at doing some light off roading.
As a little background on myself. I'm an Auto Technician. Been in the field for about 15 years. Worked for GM for a bunch of them and now for a small chain shop. I did an engine swap on my friends Outback wagon with him and that kinda got me into Subaru and how easy they were to work on.
Before getting into the subaru life I used to own a number of Firebirds that I built for cruisng and 1/4 mile racing. As a side-effect I ended up with a ton of points on my license. I've always loved going fast but I figure this type of stuff will keep the points and more importantly insurance payments down.
Well thats me in a nutshell. Anything else you wanna know feel free to ask.
