It has saved me a lot of time with my wife. I have FTM-350's in all our vehicles. Currently we are traveling in our RV and car and just spent the past three days north of Page with no service. We traveled at separate times used APRS to keep track of each other and voice to talk. The radios automatically broadcast the radio tuning information for the voice side of the radio. I will know what freq the wife is on should she bump the controls which happens often.APRS is what I want to learn. It's so hard to find info online. My goal would be to send text messages to my wife to let her know "all is well". Also show location on a map.

Talk to David Coursey (N5FDL) in Tracy, he runs the Ham Cram there. He knows a lot about APRS as well as other ham subjects. I may be stopping by that area in the next week on my way back home.
