I’m looking for some suggestions from folks familiar with the area we are heading thru. My wife and I are headed to Utah next week from Michigan by way of St. Louis and the Mark Twain NF, following 44 to 40 at Oklahoma City, Thru Albuquerque, and then across to Hurricane. That’s the general direction unless another way comes up. Just staying south to help avoid winter. We are planning to run some trails going across and disperse camp as we go. I’ve got several spots picked out for camping, depending on the timing and based on some general information from Gaia and other campsite websites. We will have 5 days to get to Utah but am not looking to run anything super technical because we will be in our own. It’s the first time doing an overlanding trip out west so the terrain will be new. We have a very capable rig and many years of trail experience, south and east, just never out west except for car camping. Any suggestions thru Oklahoma would be great. Also, opinions on Whitemore Point. FYI: we use Gaia, OnX and other mapping depending where we are so I have lots of information available. But I also appreciate others in the hobby and their opinions on areas they have been thru, and first hand knowledge, so thanks for the time.
